That movie was so hardcore-80s that they would drown out plot dialogue so you could hear the power-metal better.

If you roll two d20s, the chance that one of them will roll a 20 is 1/20 + 1/20 = 0.1 Not quite. The chance is actually 100%, minus "the chance of you rolling 1-19 on the first, multiplied by the chance of you rolling 1-19 on the second". Otherwise you'd be guaranteed, rather than likely,...

Thank you very much, Ancient. :D

Probability was one of the areas of math that has always blurred together in my mind's eye. (Always seeming more complex than it is.

So thank you, again. Especially for running it out like that. :)

Maths!

Just a quick question, more or less to educate myself. Each side of a d20 has a 5% chance of landing up. So if you land a 1 or 20, would a SECOND (confirmation) roll aiming for a 17-20 (or 1-4) effectively bring the chance of a "crit" to 1%? Or does that second roll skew the probability co...

If this is a 3.5 question, the text of Blood Drain is pretty unclear on whether the vampire drains automatically each round it maintains a pin, or it has to make a special grapple check just to blood drain, or what. The implication in 3.5 vampires are wrestlers instead of detached aristocrats proba...

Man, for a second I thought Squats were being written back in.
Turns out there's unofficial third-party support, but GW continues to ignore it. =/ I happened to like the Squat's background fluff.

Well this seems like GURPS, only with a combat system worse than GURPS', and nothing that's really better than GURPS. But I can't really be damned to look that ruleset over more, so I suppose you can take wha...

Vancian spell charges are not to be overrided by DM fiat, but they are nonetheless a fairly bad thing to include in your game design. Improved charming magic from gut stabbing is much the same. This is true, and this is also (mostly) the point I was trying to make. Every person in my sphere of inte...

I find it amazing that no one argues from the point of DM fiat. A lot of the 'problems' associated with one tracking system assume the DM is a sponge, or soap dish, as opposed to an actual human. Aside from DM intervention you're not supposed to be opting out of bad feat choices which makes things pretty awkward if and when buyer's remorse hits-...
