Re: Order is a better alignment than Law?

I wouldn't call myself a veteran of the board, but I'll try to answer anyway.[br][br]Law = Order because the people who made the current D&D rules were lazy and didn't want to actually be accurate. Strictly speaking, Lawful Alignment as it meant to be (rather than written as) is meant to be Orde...

Re: D&D after 15th level

Which is why most stories don't really make a good basis for D&D.

Re: Double Progressing Double Progressions

What if you use fractional BAB progression? It's something I've always been a fan of.

3 Wiz = 1.5
3 Druid = 2.25
1 MyTH = 0.5
Total = +4.25

Just a thought.

Re: D&D after 15th level

Hmm... idea.

You can wish for apples, but to do so, you have to convince a Noble Djinn and an Efreet (of opposite alignments) to pool their wishes together. It's one thing to always buy wishes from Djinni or beat them out of Efreeti; it's another thing to get them to work together for you.

Re: My Red Hand of Doom Character

What does a Red Hand of Doom campaign involve, exactly? From the character description you gave, it seems to be a D&D setting. Elaborate please?

There's another possibility to running gods:[br][br] No Stats, Just Pure Arbitrary Awesome : The gods don't make sense as a human would understand it. There's a whole bunch, and each one of them is, for all intents and purposes, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. For reasons you can't understa...

Ever play Star Wars d20?[br][br]I haven't, but I have played both KotOR and KotOR 2, and if Star Wars d20 operates in generally the same fashion, then it can be done.[br][br]See, in KotOR, the numbers scale on a straight mathematical basis, rather than an exponential one. It really is just the same ...

But I don't like being lame with my villains.[br][br]Anyway, it's a good suggestion for those DMs who actually give thought and creativity to the encounters they bring in.[br][br]Besides, NPCs with class levels are generally better (if only slightly) than appropriately CRed monsters. At least, that'...

Re: Monsters and magic.

Actually, I'm personally a fan of the dominate (creature type) philosophy. I had this discussion with JE a while back.[br][br] Dominate Monster is so cool because it hits everything. Dominate Person is uncool because it only works on humanoids... but that's why it's a lower level. There should be th...

Unless each HD was equivelant in ability to a PC class of equal level.

I really have no idea how to do that without a total revamp of the MM, though. Don't ask.

Ouch. Debilitating and gross. I like it.[br][br]Still, that fits in with the idea of a ranged touch attack rather than the ranged attack that Tarl suggested. So.[br][br]Ranged touch attack, attack action, make a save depending on the stat the DC is based off of, fall your ass to the ground when you ...

Re: NPC classes

Anyone ever think the sorcerer (PHB) would make a wonderful NPC class, minus the sucky spell progression?[br][br]Think about it. They get a very limited amount of spells which, as a PC, makes them worthless. But as an NPC, those spells can be entirely situational (since he's only going to be used on...

Re: The Leader Monster

Now the question is what type of action it would be. Certainly couldn't be a free action. Swift or immediate? Maybe a move-equivelant? I'd like to make it a standard action, but that would leave the creature unable to attack something it just dropped.

But what would the range be? It'd have to be able to keep up with Long Range spells, so 400 feet + 40 per HD? Or +CR?

Re: NPC classes

We should still keep weak NPC classes that go five levels (RoW Warrior, for example), just so we have some low-level mooks, but any NPC class that goes beyond fifth level, I agree must be equivelant to the PC classes.
