F&K Monster Conversion

Okay, I'm interested in playing a Doppelganger in an upcoming game. The problem lies in wanting to use the Frank and K method of converting monsters. I've tried running the Doppelganger through it, and came up with some odd answers. For one thing, the recommendation of using the Elite Array to deter...

[br] If you take a look at the errata, A Thousand Faces is now the same thing as a 1800 gp magical item. It's really not even an issue. [br][br][br]Agreed, but it's also annoying. It's one of those cases where it's just *stupid* to have it like that. Why would a Druid need to impersonate other peopl...

Nerf the Druid!

I'm staring at the class. And, wow, it's just amazing that Wizards just let this by.[br][br]The major issue, of course, is Wild Shape. They can become any animal that fits the size requirements. For an hour/class level.[br][br]Granted, most of the animals can't compete with monsters, but....[br][br]...

Considering you have the beardies being teh l33t at crafting stuff, maybe someone clever could find a better design rather than historically accurate stuff.[br][br]There's a Terry Pratchett novel that centers around the first firearm on the Disc. What sounds right for that?

Base the hit points on every couple of points your check exceeds a DC? For that, 10 sounds too low, and 15 a bit too high...Maybe 12.

Re: Threads that make us Laugh, Cry, or Both, Continued

Running the same scenario over and over sounds like it's not that great... Can't they hire someone to crank out a dungeon generator so they can use each dungeon a few times, switch to another on the same theme for the next set, and get an overall average image of how a certain character/built will p...

The earlier discussion on the different ways you can define and use insanity reminds me of that Gamecube game, Eternal Darkness.[br][br]Although, from what's been said of the Call of Cthulhu sanity system, ED is similar to that. At 20 ranks, you can once a day person replicate True Resurrection at a caster level equal to your ranks in Heal-3. [br][br]That is just INSANE, man. Skills are things you can do without magic, and True Resurrection lets you bring someone back from the dead without a corpse, or with a seriously mut...

Expanded Heal skill

I want to get this out of my head before it permanently takes root, so here's some ideas for the Heal skill...[br][br]-An exploit* of Trained Healer that grants you reduced DCs on common heal checks, and lets you do more stuff with Heal, as well as granting instant respect and helpfulness to[br][br]...

[br] When I first saw the rule, I thought the designers were on crack. Re: Fighters doing stuff outside of combat

The issue remains, though, of a solid caster level reduced by a set amount such as with NoDot's, or a fraction of your total levels (half or 3/4ths?), for advancement. [br][br]Therein lies the problem, huh? Levels that don't grant extra spellcasting ability are the traditional price you have to pay...

Huh. That guy has himself screwed.

He could try running a Dungeonomicon Monk. Or if nothing else, he could dumpster dive for weird monk weapons like the Scissor Sword from one of the Dragonmech books.
