Batman can beat up goons, but dedicated fighters break his spine in straight up fights. This raises a certain point, when we talk about Batman, exactly which Batman are we talking about? The Nolan-verse Batman would probably be pretty straightforward, the JLA Batman needs copious fiat. Bane did bre...

Right now I don't think there is a way for a Cleric to get all the Wizard spells, so you're going to be forced to cherry-pick. The good news is that the Travel domain still rocks in Pathfinder, so that's most of your mobility spells accounted for. I think there is a class option that lets you prepar...

The Magaambyan Arcanist from paths of prestige gets to add a limited number of Druid spells to their spell list. Also Samsarans have an alternate racial ability that lets them add a limited number of spells from someone else's list to their own. It also depends if you need Cleric spells in general o...

Isn't Batman supposed to be like a Wizard? Isn't there a seminal thread from 339 about how playing a Wizard is like playing Batman? Batman has superpowers. Besides wealth and fitness, the versions where he is hanging around with the Justice League make him super smart and a gadgeteer. Smarter than a...

One thing that sometimes works with older school MCs is to ask to go on a quest for something. Don't just ask for it, but if you say that your character longs to harness the power of $Magic_Item for $Reason your MC may or may not be inclined to give you a plot thread that connects you to it. There i...

I fail to see how that does not lead to one of: [*] The PCs effortlessly grind fights way above their weight class. [*] The PCs take on someway way way above their weight class who can survive getting pounded on despite CMWs being thrown out once or twice. [*] The PCs get turbonuked from full healt...

Unless they're putting a strict limit on the total number of spell charges AND monster damage scales like crazy then this is one of the biggest padded sumo fuckups I've ever heard. Say you change the cure spells in 3.5 to do 1/4 HP for CLW, 1/2 CMW etc. Clerics will still have better things to do w...

There is actually something good about the healing surge mechanics. Not the actual surges them self necessarily, but didn't they let Cure Light Wounds scale so that it was always curing 1/4 of a characters total health? That makes CLW a lot more useful and makes CMW on up a lot less wasteful in comb...

Is there such a thing as malware on android devices? I was looking around on their app store and saw this . The screen shots are from the old Battletech game for the Sega Genesis. The description looks like it was copied and pasted by someone with bad english, calling Mechs 'Robert'. But take a look...

The easiest way to do it would be to make feats level-dependent but stat independent. Thus you have a set of 20 level 20 feats that you can't take unless you're level 20. Tying it to BAB or CL makes them class options instead of class-independent general options. One potential problem I can see ari...

In my experience, non-magic-using classes in OSR games are pretty short because they don't get nice things. And even if a class does get nice abilities, those abilities are kept short by virtue of being super-vague (OSR considers extreme vagueness to be a feature, not a bug). Not to mention the OSR...

So to sumarrize their is a legitmate grivance about books being too long. So how do we make shoter books in a way that is less retarded. It's simple. Don't put rules for levels 1-20 in the same book, split it up. Only include the best spells, gear and feats, less filler. Don't include rule subsyste...

There is actually an OSR annual convention in Toronto, I went last summer. I had fun. They weren't as backwards as some of you are depicting them, most of the games I played used ascending AC for instance. I'm finding it hard to describe how their MC'ing style varied from most of the 3.5 MC's I've p...

I think the best guaranteed return is Canadian savings bonds. The website doesn't make finding the actual rate you could get easy, but you should beat prime. Problem is that your money isn't always available. As far as savings accounts go I've heard that ING Direct has the best return. But like Maj ...
