Has anyone heard any murmurs from other publishers who might want to take up either the Shadowrun or Battletech lines? I've always respected how Battletech was handled. You could start playing with just the box set, you could play 90%+ of scenarios with just one book and a computer program to print ...

The moment you start thinking that everyone other than you is stupid and uninteresting is the moment when you should stop, step back, and start wondering if perhaps the problem is in yourself. Ladies and gentlemen, the tone of my original post was SARCASM . Clearly I think there are good, interesti...

Taking a step back, the town I'm in is pretty small. Since I'm stuck here until I finish my degree I think I may just be screwed.

Common interests and making friends through friends is exactly the type of advice I'd expect from my Mom. Not wrong necessarily, but not exactly enlightening. I have my interests, philosophy, politics/economics and PnP gaming. Those interests aren't too fucking common but there are people out there ...

Getting out of the house.

What I'm about to say may be shocking: The world is filled with stupid people. I know, I know there is so proof to the contrary. :sarcasm: Normally it's not a big deal, because in the sea of idiocy you can usually find a few decent, intelligent, rational people. My problem is, even though I live in ...

There's also cryosleep, as seen in the movie Aliens. As mentioned above we'll start to see colonization once we have the power needed to go between planets/solar systems and do it for only a few billion dollars. Then you can get a few (very rich) fringe loons who want to live away from 'the man'.

Quiverfull is a fundamentalist Christian movement that believes children are a gift from god, so they don't use birth control and they they actually try to have as many children as possible. There used to be a Clutch that ran Fanpro's convention demo teams, at least for Battletech. For those not in the know Fanpro used to run Catalyst's properties before their was a Catalyst.

Last campaign I played I specifically engineered my character to only have to roll one die for damage, even up to level 20. It just saves so much time not having to collect the dice you need, rolling all of them, finding the ones that fell of the table etcetera. It doesn't make d20 combat any less f...

Welcome aboard Panzerfaust, thanks for the link. I'm curious what Catalyst's current strategy is. I think it's a good idea for them to placate their freelancers, because if they want to work with them in the future they kind of need to. But why not hit the magic button and start a new company or all...

I'm actually writing a paper revolving around some of this brain/computer stuff. Long story short, neurons are either on or off (digital) the activation they send out isn't one set value, they don't send 0 or 1 in other words. So they aren't analogue, they may have a bit more computational leeway th...

Of course they're so incompetent that the enemies are high level in name only and can actually be easily killed right? I remember the write-up for the end-boss of a 3.5 adventure called the Age of Worms . It was a good 2 pages long, and I think it would be a TPK for 80% of D&D groups out there ...

People only get one attack of opportunity per round . The attack of opportunity that you get when a tripped foe stands up happens before they get to their feet, so it comes with +4 to-hit. Getting an attack of opportunity in response to an enemy falling down is therefore not even an advantage (unle...

These Pathfinder better/worse debates make my head hurt. Pathfinder failed, but miss how it really fails. Casters got stronger: Wizards and Sorcerers got stronger, Clerics and Druids get ugly little nerfs. For low levels we can debate whether Wizards actually got better, they get more HP and higher ...

Instead of displaying even a modicum of transparency everyone seems to be treating their sales and finances as state secrets. Is there a logical reason for this? Despite wanting to steal money from your company that is. WotC, Paizo, everyone does this. As part of this they also don't release sales ...

I think their are primarily two types of Tea-Partiers; the primarily rascist and the conspiracy theorist. The conspiracy type I could definitely see using false-flags to further their agenda. By RAW it may work, Oversized TWF mentions if you wield a one-handed weapon in your off hand you reduce your penalty. You are holding it in your off hand(s), since it doesn't specify you can just have one off hand I think you get a pass.
