He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

This reminds me of an image from a comic, where the flash, batman, superman, wonderwoman and green lantern are in the invisible jet and batman says something along the lines of "just think what i could have done with that ring" and then he looks out of a window in contemplation while the others look very disturbed by the thought . . Also, technically, Batman could have been a yellow lantern. sowing fear is his shtick after all . .

Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.

Due to his ability to "sow great fear" the Sinestro Corps offered Batman their ring. He refused it.

The Scarecrow was deputized as a 24-hour member of the Sinestro Corps during Blackest Night.

Batman works a lot of fear, but he also has inhuman self-control, given how he won't kill anyone these days.

No matter how much he might want to.

Given the horrible shit he routinely sees, that's enough willpower to qualify him as a Green Lantern.

Bruce Wayne has serious mother and father issues. While he may have great willpower he doesn't have the ability to overcome his fear of crime - hence his need to hang on to the mantle of the Batman. Green Lantern rings are provided to those who can control their fear; Batman is ruled by his and projects it outward upon cowardly and superstitious criminals.

He's also more of a detective in the tradition of Holmes than a (space) cop.

Huh. That's a good point there.

They forgot that Ghost-type moves were useless against Psychic-types because of another glitch.

Making Psychic even more pimp.

Oh, there's also the obviously intentional idiocy that's stuck around with the original ghosts (gastly, et al.) being Ghost/Poison, and ghost not having any resistance to psychic attacks.

So, imagine being a 10 year old gothling, watching the cartoon and seeing this awesome face with hands being integral to beating Sabrina. You finally get a hold of the game, and you go catch a haunter in Lavender Town, go to Sabrina's gym and.....Haunter's taken out in one hit.

So much rage....

On the other hand, imagine being a 10 year old nerdling. You get a hold of the game and find out that the guys whose superpower is being really smart kill absolutely everything.

My favorite glitch in the original pokemon game was that missingno hack. Not because you could get infinite items, but because you'd fight one of a few super high level pokemon. Some games it'd be an awful level 120 Zubat, others it'd be a 250 Charizard, or even better, you could fight Professor Oak! He had some seriously messed up pokemon.

Stat-up rollovers persisted until they were fixed in generation 3. Those aren't all gen 1 problems.

They also aren't all problems. Hyper beam non-recharge was a great mechanic that made the move an interesting choice, rather than a useless one.

I think you can do the same thing with Slaking and Giga Impact in Generations 4+.

How does Slaking's "I'm too lazy to act this turn" interact with recharge? Do they both effectively take up the same turn so using GI or HB takes the same amount of time as using Tackle, or do you lose even more turns, thus making him "Use once then swap out"?

A. And Slaking has fucking insane physical attack and he's Normal-type. (Although Hyper Beam is now keyed to Special Attack).

So, yeah, it's about as good as it gets for a Slaking.

The former is correct, Koumei.

Let's face it though, Slaking was a useless pokemon in gen 3 no matter how many people tried to make him otherwise.

Slaking was cool because it was received with "Oh, cool, a new version of snorlax that isn't a two-off!" Then you found out it was mostly useless...

Back in Gen 1, my friends almost banned Snorlax because they had problems beating mine. Mostly because my friends didn't use fighting pokemon very often (they were perceived as being underpowered back in the day, I think I might have been the only person to know that Fighting beats Normal type).

Similar with my Chancey and my Nidoking.

Beedrill was pretty fucking awesome in G1 too, mostly because it was the only Pokemon that could do Bug-type damage (that mattered, Leech Life was really weak), and was fast and hit hard, which meant it was the psychic-killer of choice (Psychic damage fucked it up, but just about every Psychic-type was slower than it and went down after a Twinneedle or Pin Missile).

In my community, Alakazam was the only psychic type that was used commonly. And back in G1, those little bastards were fast as balls. I do seem to remember Drowzee/Hypno being pretty slow, Mr. Mime being non-existant, and I forget any other psychic pokemon in Den 1.

Granted, anything the Alakazam didn't kill in one hit would probably kill it in one hit, but it was something to keep in mind.

I used Parasect on rare occasions. It didn't do too bad against psychics (one of the only bugs without poison), but they tend to be slow.

I used Mewtwo as my psychic-type.

And used that TM Duplication thing to duplicate some TMs and to teach it Body Slam.

This let it stomp about every other Psychic-type it ran up against, let alone the Paralysis.

It did pretty well in Pokemon Stadium/Stadium 2.

Edit: These days I have a huge affection for Fighting-types. And Aerodactyl.

This is the thread for Image Macros.

I'd like to request that future Pokemon chatter herein be accompanied by such.

2 minutes on google turns up stuff like this:

"But transportation issues are social-justice issues. The toll of bad transit policies and worse infrastructure—trains and buses that don’t run well and badly serve low-income neighborhoods, vehicular traffic that pollutes the environment and endangers the lives of cyclists and pedestrians—is borne disproportionately by black and brown communities."
