Moments when a piece of entertainment annoys you no end
Just moments that, rather than lose you, or make you turn it off in disgust, just annoy the shit out of you, but don't ruin the overall thing.
Grinding in computer rpgs. I'm playing Soulsilver right now. I bought it tuesday, and haven't even gone to the first gym yet because I'm grinding all my damned pokemon to at least 12th level.
fucking 2nd level pokemon and pokemon with no attacks...

I know a lot of people don't like to do this since it takes a lot of the fun out of the game for them, but seriously, if you use just one or two pokemon for the 'storyline' part of the game then you never need to grind. I got gold a week or so after it came out, overall it's been fun so far. If you ever want to trade or anything hit me up with your fc.
As for stuff that annoys me, I've been playing Baldur's Gate II again and I hate the pisspoor pathing of characters when you move around. I know, it's old, blah blah blah, it's just irksome.

Does Soulsivler or Heartgold have a Rock Tunnel? I had 2 high level pokemon in Red and the Rock Tunnel was a freaking nightmare because I kept running out of attacks. I eventually slogged through it and beat the game, but DAMN that was a pain.
It annoys me when they put a save point right before a long sequence so if you die or have to leave or something you have to keep sitting through it. That almost killed Xenogears for me.

In this moment, I am Ur-phoric. Not because of any phony god’s blessing. But because, I am enlightened by my int score.
Seriously goddam rock tunnels.
Although. Hilariously, in original Blue, I said fuck you to the rock tunnel with style, and ended up tremendously over-levelled by a wide margin.
I ran the whole thing with no flash, and that was old style, total darkness instead of small circle of vision.
I used standard maze protocol until it fucking worked bitches. (I think only you and ladders and opposing trainers were visible or something like that.)

That's libertarians for you - anarchists who want police protection from their slaves.
I didn't use Flash either -- I don't know anyone who did. Probably because that was back in the day when you couldn't erase HM moves.
I just stuck close the walls -- there was barely enough light to see what was going on. I actually find it harder without flash now because you got a small amount of light from the old one -- enough to make out pixel blobs, at least.

I used Flash.
I tended to catch an Abra or trade for that Mr. Mime or something and slap Flash onto it.
I also tended to raise a Gyarados so I could make it an HM-slave.

He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

Zak S, Zak Smith, Dndwithpornstars, Zak Sabbath. He is a terrible person and a hack at writing and art. His cultural contributions are less than Justin Bieber's, and he's a shitmuffin. Go go gadget Googlebomb!

I did that in the same game. Couldn't figure out how to find the HM, said fuck it.Kaelik wrote:Seriously goddam rock tunnels.

Much as I prefer 4th Generation, the number of HMs really shits me: Rock Throw, Rock Smash, Rock Climb, Waterfall (useful in combat), Surf (useful in combat), Fly (worth having), Flash (nobody learns it, they just use online maps), Dig, De-Fog, Cut...
Count Arioch the 28th wrote:There is NOTHING better than lesbians. Lesbians make everything better.
Yeah, we've gone from days of sacrificing something to be an hm slave to having to find two pokemon that learn mutually exclusive halves of the hm list. which led to me sacrificing dragonite as an hm slave, and having to tote around a god damned bidoof as my other one.Koumei wrote:Much as I prefer 4th Generation, the number of HMs really shits me: Rock Throw, Rock Smash, Rock Climb, Waterfall (useful in combat), Surf (useful in combat), Fly (worth having), Flash (nobody learns it, they just use online maps), Dig, De-Fog, Cut...
That definitely annoyed me. That every single fucking person had a Bidoof because it could learn like 5 of the 8 HMs. At least make it something I don't feel ashamed to show when someone asks to look at my pokemon.
I really think there should either keep to four HMs, or you should be able to teach each pokemon one Skill in addition to its Ability. So your Gyarados would have the Ability of Intimidate and the Skill of Surf, and your Machamp would have the Ability of Guts/No Guard and the Skill of Strength. You'd then replace some Abilities and move some into Skills so that PickUp would be a Skill as would Run Away and Sniper.

That's actually the way it is in HG/SSCrissa wrote:I just made it 'I have a pokemon out all the time. You know, like in the TV show.'

Alternatively they could realize that people over the age of ten play the games and not create such retarded pokemon. Fuck, I wouldn't have used one of those damned things when I was a part of the target demographic, it's the retarded cousin of cute pokemon.Parthenon wrote:That definitely annoyed me. good idea for the pokemon project on in IMOI, but it'd probably make the game too complicated for their focus groups.I really think there should either keep to four HMs, or you should be able to teach each pokemon one Skill in addition to its Ability. I had a buddy who turned Lapras into one. I felt horrified...Surgo wrote:What are the other good HM slaves? Krabby comes to mind.
But Gyarados was good in Ruby/Sapphire. So was Wailmer, for the underwater bits.

I can top that. I only ever played Red and Blue, like a decade ago, so I don't know about all the new HMs or pokemon, but back when I used to play, I saw a Mew that had all four HMs on it. Frowns all around.Maxus wrote:I had a buddy who turned Lapras into one. I felt horrified...Surgo wrote:What are the other good HM slaves? Krabby comes to mind.
I like how this thread is all about Pokemon.
Anyway, I spread the HMs around in 4Gen, so my main adventuring team was:
Stupid Monkey: Rock Climb, Rock Smash (and Close Combat and Flare Blitz)
Gyarados: Waterfall, Surf (Dragon Dance, Stone Edge)
Floatzel: Waterfall (Crunch, Rain Dance, Sleep Talk, I think I ended up replacing something with Ice Fang)
Crobat: De-Fog, Fly, Cut (Cross Poison)
Onix: Rock Throw (Sandstorm, Sand Tomb, some other move)
Dragonite: (Dragon Dance, Draco Meteor, Outrage, Calm Mind)
Yes, I doubled up on Waterfall. Because it's a great move.
Then for Gym battles, I traded out Onix and Crobat for:
Charizard: (Belly Drum, Substitute, Flare Blitz, some other move)
Sneasel/Weavile: (Punishment, Ice Shard, Shadow Punch, Brick Break)

Bibarrel is the greatest HM slave. Fuck all of you guys.
Although, since we're going with PKMN, the thing that pisses me off is that I can only have one save file. I mean come the fuck on, we've been doing this for fifteen years and we still can't store multiple versions of the game?

To depart from pokemon but remain faithful to the topic... Something that irritates me to no end in entertainment is the giant touch screen homage to minority report that most modern cop dramas fap over. It is stupid and unnecessary. Also whenever some show displays total idiocy about a subject
Examples:
Examples:
In NCIS one computer expert is having trouble being hacked so the other expert helps her out by typing on the same fucking keyboard, each using half of it. WTF? Have the writers, directors and actors all never used a fucking computer?!
And any time chess is ever played in a show/movie that is not about chess. It is always stupid.
