Is there an old doc anywhere that has all the class skills on it? I did a bit of google-fu but couldn't find a DL link that wasn't broken. I'm curious to see to what degree Pump-kins are getting cock blocked by cross class Intimidate, although I suppose the racial bonus comes close enough to canceling it out for most of the levels where Fear immunity isn't being handed out like halloween candy.

Phoenix: mostly I forgot. That seems a fair thing to add in - not every second level of course, but every 3 or 4 levels could work.

Whipstitch: nope. I think the class/cross-class skill thing is stupid, so Disgaeagame uses the assumption that such things don't exist and everything is a class skill for everyone. And I'm not sure Fear immunity is that common. I suppose there's a certain point where everyone can get it as the special feature of a magic item, but not that many classes grant it.

Oh, nice.

But yeah, I'm probably thinking in terms of my dickhead former DM who routinely force fed everyone undead and constructs whereas in Disgaea half the population are cowardly slackers and aren't really mindless even if they are kinda sorta constructs/undead/plants.

Okay:
[*]Fixed the Reaper requirements
[*]Fixed the wording for the Prism Ranger
[*]Added Spheres as an option for Overlords, and then cut down the options of effects for their Overlord's Wrath move so the whole thing still fills the same number of pages (that one extra bullet point shoves a large-text ability onto the next page, meaning shuffling had to occur)
[*]Added a section on skills, pointing out the bit about class skills, as well as specifying stuff like "Open Lock is part of Disable Device, which is also a sort of non-magical Dispel check" and "Perform works like it did in 3.0" and "Professions can have one rank (you can do it as a job) or two (you are awesome)" and other basic Den stuff. Also, added a reminder about stuff covered by Knowledges.

Anything else leaping out as needing changing before I do the "save as pdf again, delete uploaded pdf, upload pdf again, link here" routine?

I don't know why you think that's a problem. I mean, every day I'm shuffling.

DAMMIT, FRANK!

Yeerrrrghhh, that was awful.

:bash:
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

Zak S, Zak Smith, Dndwithpornstars, Zak Sabbath. He is a terrible person and a hack at writing and art. His cultural contributions are less than Justin Bieber's, and he's a shitmuffin. Go go gadget Googlebomb!

Do you think that LMFAO understands that the fact that their stuff doesn't sound like AndrewWK means that "Party Rock" is not actually a genre?

Updated

Also... I don't get it. What is Frank referring to? Card-shuffling, or the Australian dance style, or the slow method of walking, or something dirty?

So, I was chatting with some other people about it, and obviously "Playing a game in the N1-verse, chucking Prinnies at people and getting obscene power with crazy names" appeals to a lot of people. But someone pointed something out that probably does need to exist:

Combo-attacking. Now I don't mean the one where you set the actions up of "Armour Break -> Armour Break -> Peta Fire -> Peta Fire -> Comet Storm -> Genocide Slice -> Dimension-X Slash" so that each effect does more damage due to being in a combo.

I also don't mean the thing in Disgaea 3 where various pairs of special attacks sometimes sort of combo together to get a new name (made from Part A of one ability name and Part B of the other - Attack Punisher + Rage Attack == Attack Attack, or Panic Bomb + Hurricane Slice == Hurricane Bomb) and the animations mixed together a bit.

I mean the bit where you choose to slap someone and your adjacent friends join in on that (potentially with the D4 Cam-Pain effect where any time an ally anywhere on the map attacks an enemy you threaten, you get a bonus attack, making for fucking hilarious boss fights).

This sounds like a [Combat] Feat. Probably the kind you'd take if you were taking Phalanx Fighter. Thoughts about the various abilities?

We have:
Benefit for Existing:
+1 BAB:
+6 BAB:
+11 BAB:
+16 BAB:

Things that could fit in there somewhere:
  • When you make a Standard or Full Attack against an enemy and hit at least once, all adjacent allies that threaten the enemy may make an Attack of Opportunity against the enemy. (Wording rules out two guys with this chaining AoOs off AoOs, and basically rules out most special attacks and spells from triggering. Yes, the guy behind you needs a reach weapon to join in unlike the game. That said, the guys diagonal to you can join in (behind: with reach, in front: regular). Probably +6 or +11?)
  • You can use Aid Other to (something more interesting than just giving a bonus. Maybe "Grant an adjacent ally the benefits of a [Combat] feat you have, until the beginning of your next turn." or something?)
  • The basic effect (usually where a flat bonus goes) could be as simple as granting adjacent allies a small damage bonus, or getting a damage bonus from adjacent allies.
  • For the Cam-Pain Map thing, a higher-level ability: any time an ally damages an enemy you threaten with anything other than an Attack of Opportunity, that provokes an Attack of Opportunity from you?
Thoughts, from those who are better at balance and thinking of long-term implications of effects?

The core mechanic you're probably looking for is attacks of opportunity for people getting damaged by basic attacks. Like that Rogue ability.

Oh right, Opportunist.

Yeah, I suppose that could make an acceptable feat, just basically grant Opportunist, and then at +6 or +11 swap the wording a bit so that everyone adjacent to you effectively has Opportunist. It doesn't actually need other abilities in there.

Thanks.

BANG

Changes:
-The Ninja starts on Page 51, not Page 52, so Contents Page fixed
-Added the Combo Fighter Feat/Evilty
-Having seen what Scientists/Professors do in Disgaea 4, I modified the bonus list for their Devices to be a little more like that, and added the Cooperatron as a Device. Still not as quirky and "Boost weird crap for people" as the one in D4, but that's okay - people want flamethrowers and shit.
-Slightly altered the wording of Magichanging to make it a bit stronger

  • You should add a list of classes that are "okay to use" but are not in the PDF, e.g. Beguiler and the fiend classes.
  • It would be nice if the PDF was indexed (i.e., in most PDF viewers, you can open a clickable table of context in a side-pane and jump to what you're looking for)

I can't do that at home, but I can do that at work. They sound like acceptable changes, sure.

And as I'm always happy to continue working on that, have NIS made any new cool stuff that needs incorporating? I don't have DisgaeaD2 for instance.

I'll have to remember to actually put the Word file on my flashstick, not just the pdf. So I'll try to remember that.

Here you go, with bookmarks. The Contents page does not link to them, because I couldn't be fucked doing that. Just click on the Bookmarks tab at the side instead.

Something: The "Dark Assembly" chapter gives the Orc party a 20% chance of showing up drunk, and the Ghost party a 30% chance of sleeping. On the other hand, their racial entries list those probabilities at 50%

EDIT: Also, the way the listed math works, if you have a 30-person party, 19 of them vote for something, and then 10 vote against, and the 30th person is "strongly in favor", they will vote against.

For peer pressure, shouldn't each person voting for cancel out a vote against and vice versa?

EDIT 2: Just noticed that 30 people is way more than the expected number of senators voting on a bill. It probably doesn't get to the point of total contrariness, but still.

Quite possibly I should have spent more time on the Dark Assembly stuff, but I don't care very much any more, so it would be unwise to hope I'll dig the Word doc up, make that adjustment, turn it into a pdf and then host it on something.

I recommend using 50% for the chance of ghosts sleeping and orcs drinking, because that's more disruptive to plans and truly represents what it's like.
