It's nice to have the rules for the monster right in front of you, but it's also nice to have consistent powers with consistent names so that an experienced DM can easily keep track of what a stat block means.

Re: The Problem with RPGs (Long Rant)
If you're unwilling to play in a game where sad things happen, by all means make and RPG where they don't (or give up RPGs entirely). If you abhor any randomness or chance of things going against your plans, write stories instead of cooperatively story telling.[br][br]There are a lot of things I lik...

I'm thinking of creating a 'talk' page on the wiki, because unfortunately there don't seem to be 'talk' pages for each entry (as in Wikipedia). Would that be alright, or do you want to keep discussion here?

Because each sphere would be thematically distinct, and it makes using dragons simpler. Although I'd probably only make chromatic spheres, and have good dragons distinguish themselves some other way.

1201902771[/unixtime]]They are not contradictory. Take, for example, E6. Characters gain more abilities (Sculpt Spell) while not advancing raw numbers (Caster level). [br]Except characters do advance raw numbers, which is direct evidence that the design goals are hard to achieve at the same time.

Re: The Feeling of Epic
I do agree that the idea of Great Heroes having Epic Battles that destroy worlds and last for days works great in stories.[br][br]However, to work in a game you'd need a very different combat scale so that players don't just say 'Alright, I'll use Summon Banshee Whale until he dies from the baleful ...
