No one is saying Twilight is good, only that it has some perceived worth to its fans.

For the record, I play my tiefling bard as being hardened by years in the city guard, which he later "betrayed" by overthrowing the local dictator, forcing him to flee his home. That's not really "dark past" in my opinion, because it happened in game, like 3 levels ago.

Paladins in AD&D must be LG. Your arrogance in asserting that the 3e designers didn’t know what they were doing because they kept in that legacy item is one of those face-desky things. You might disagree with their decision, but that doesn’t mean that they didn’t know what they were doing. No, ...

It's probably possible, but I think for first level, rogues are likely to be better. Let's see? Level 1 Rogue with Backstabber and a +1 dagger 20 dex and 16 str Attacks at +5 dex +3 prof + 1 enhance + 1 rogue bonus to daggers (+2 combat advantage, which is important for them) +10(12) to hit against ...

Not when they have spent the last 8 rounds (translating into several minutes of realtime) then gets up with no damage taking a 5-minute break can't fix. Also no wound penalties, no NOTHING. I'm not sure what you're meaning by real time here, do you mean that the players have spent several minutes o...

Obviously, you're not paying attention any more because you simply can't hack it in a discussion, but eladrin were the fey celestials. Lived in Arborea, had faerie court, etc etc. It's not an unreasonable name, and their changed role, is changed in origin, not in function.

Tracking lethal and nonlethal damage sucked as a mechanic, so they got rid of it.

I can see where you're coming from, but it's the heroic trope of suffering a severe wound, but still getting up and fighting that's seen in books and movies long before 4E.

They didn't change them, they slapped the name on something completely different. Also, they are recognised as WoW elves even by people who never played any Warcraft game including WoW. Really? That's funny. It's funny because if people haven't actually played WoW, they're just making shit up when ...

They did not change them. They dumped everything that ever made eladrin eladrin (celestials, embody chaotic good alignment, made from souls of ascended mortals, live on Upper Planes, super-badass, have a certain themes to their abilities) into a trash can and stapled their name to high elves reskin...

Such as: - D&D should be less lethal Less stupidly lethal. Less save or die. Less You made a first level character, now make two more so you don't have to spend time during the session when the first and second ones die from being too close to a housecat. - Heroic adventures and shit Forgive me...

Well at low levels the Hp for normal monsters is pretty well balanced and set up. It's only I think once you start getting higher up into paragon and epic (maybe even later heroic), that the monster HP beats out damage noticeably. My experience does only go to early to mid paragon for what it's wor...

Your statement is bullshit and you know this. . 4E Eladrins very literally are similar to pre-4E eladrins in name only. Tieflings got complete visual redesign and even have different origins. Eladrin in 3e had the solid single colored eyes and the otherwise elfvish features. Yeah, and humans with r...

2. In an effort to reduce the "padded sumo" effect, all monsters have half the listed hit points, and are considered to be one level lower than listed for XP and encounter challenge purposes. In my experience with 4e the only monsters which have a noticeable glut of HP are solos from the ...

Here's an old, OLD post that might enlighten you. I'd always heard people toss around "Oberoni" this and "Oberoni" that so I got off my lazy ass and googled it. Quote that does not actually have to do with what I said Right, I said that isn't a problem. I said if you don't like ...

Eladrin look very much like 3e at least human form eladrin.

I can't find any dranei that don't look more like tieflings from earlier editions than tieflings look like them. I think WoW was influenced by them, not the other way around.

Come on, TD. We both know that's not true. To put it bluntly, D&D players have gotten pussified--they can't handle things like "paladins have to be LG or they fall and lose their class abilities." And let's be brutally honest: 4e is designed to play toward the tastes of the 13-year-ol...

"See I think the problem is they assume that you're roleplaying with these combats. You keep talking about them like they exist in a vacuum, where all that's going on is the person's turn comes and they roll the die and hit/miss the next person goes. If that's not how you're thinking, tell me,...

Your point is wrong. Skill challenges don't meet their own goals. They don't meet any appropriate goals for a game. And the very idea of "skill challenges" which are just roll Blue attack against AC Y is so inherently boring and shitty that back when people made fucking D&D 1e the fir...
