Apparently they decided it's the time to throw their good taste down the drain.
I perfectly know that RPG involve killing, doing evil, cause suffering. Some enjoy RPGs just to wreak their worst instincts. However, most of RPG and CCG are not entirely focused on this shit.

Though fictional, this CCG makes me feel...uncomfortable at best. OK, you are not smacking real prostitutes. That doesn't make me feel better. They say: "don't take it too seriously". OK. But I don't like 'jokes' which are in fact mockeries of real victims.

That stuff doesn't deserve so much hype. Just let 'em drown in their misery. If someone likes it, he is free to waste his money on the game and play it.

Actually, I'm surprised that anyone is offended by this. The website and the game say over and over again that it's a joke. Seriously, anyone who watches Scrubs and never complains about the lack of respect they have for the horrors that occur in our nation's hospitals every day, or anyone who has ever seen Cheech and Chong and not been aghast at the total ignorance of the brutality and violence that pervades the world of drug cartels, drug runners, and drug dealers, or anyone who has ever played a bard for more than one session at a time -- none of them should even lift an eyebrow at Pimp: the Backhanding. Where you the player are a cotton plantation owner circa 1842 and its your job to control, abuse, and maximize the output of your contingent of [EDITED] thralls. Same type of classless and deviant humor, right?

All the focus is on the coolness factor of being a pimp, which youths in modern pop culture seemingly like to jabber about with a rather cavalier attitude. And little focus seems to be placed on the victims of pimps who via terror, violence, and humilation, often have their lives totally ruined. Or worse, end up dead without dignity.

The game itself drives home a little too close a dose of real life modern America for me. I live in a neighborhood where pimps and their thralled prostitutes are arrested on a daily basis. In addition, they end up in morgues and hospitals on a way too frequent basis.

Do we really need a packaged "game" that mocks this and completely zones in on this social cancer in such a nonchalant manner? No. Cartoons and comics that focus on this issue is fine as a form of expression, tragic humor, information, or what have you. But when a fairly reputable game company publishes a game where you playfully and mindlessly assume the role of a traditional pimp - that's just exacerbating the problem and diminishing the severity of its social ills.

Why do the ART films always get the the boot put in at every excuse. They've started banning new art films in the order of Lolita in my country lately, while blasted Law and Order SVU is screened multiple nights a week on free to air television despite being blatantly illegal in its content according to our broadcasting act thingy.

Use the excuse to put the foot in where its richly deserved, like Law and Order SVU.

As long as didn't take itself seriously and expected it's players to not take it seriously -- and it's funny -- I don't care if the game is called "Hatred: the Curb-Stomping", "Rapist: the Boning", or "Hitler: the Purging".

I realize that these issues are very disturbing to people. I realize that many people are totally uncomfortable being exposed to even the mention of these kinds of events. But I am also aware that the intent of the game is not to glorify pimping, but to make fun of the ignorant assholes who *do*, and to try to point a finger at how stupid it is to think that beating women is "cool".

The Kubrick version of Lolita was horrible. It totally ignored the tone of the book (which despite the subject matter was wonderfully written). After seeing how he butchered that book I lost a lot of respect for Kubrick.
