When I was little. My brother and me were chopping twigs with a hatchet.
Let's just say that my right middle finger has a long, Y-shaped scar along the first joint.
I was in shock and didn't feel a thing. Later, when the localized anasthesia was used, I could feel the curved hollow needle threading the stiches in the skin, but that was more of a mental thing, not a pain thing; in terms of not freaking out.
Today if I swing my arm, I get the sensation as if the finger tip is being pulled away from the finger. Initially, just walking made me feel like the fingertip was going to come off.
There was an upside to all of this; the damage to the joint made it so that I could flex just the first joint in my middle finger, so it became double-jointed. Then I learned that I could practice do the same with all of my fingers. So, all of my fingers are double-jointed. It's useless, but interesting.
