If I could find it, I'd post the video my wife showed me. Someone edited Buffy the Vampire Slayer into Twilight, to show what would happen if Edward stalked her. She fucking murdered him.

Edit: For your viewing pleasure.

Well, I'm getting more like this:

If a book makes someone happy and they enjoy it, they should be able to read it without being harassed. Like, have you found and watched someone who was reading a romance novel in public without hiding the cover? Complete strangers seem to take it as permission to be a dickhead over the reader's choice of material.

And, yeah, there's a lot of valid criticisms that can be leveled at romance novels (while we're using the example); they can still be enjoyable to a wide variety of people. There's a lot of valid criticisms that can be leveled at the Twilight series (which even a lot of romance people admit isn't even close to being a good example of the genre). But a lot of people enjoy it, so it must be doing something right for them. And I'm not going to go all 'Stop having fun, you lowbrow plebe' to someone I see reading Twilight or Eragon. But that doesn't mean I won't discuss something's shortcomings in an objective way.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

I feel free to criticize novels which have main subjects (like promoting sexism and related tropes) which are shown in a positive light which have a negative impact upon the reader.

I am in no way suggesting that it should not be in libraries.

Oh, yeah, criticism is just fine. I've been known to engage in it a bit more heavily than just saying something sucks and why it sucks (like, I have an essay on the villains of Spider-Man 3 that I wrote for kicks. My Study of Film teacher would be enormously proud.)

But I've thought about it and realized just because someone has abominable taste in reading doesn't give me permission to walk up and be snide at them about it. At least, not while they're reading it. In public. When I don't know them.

And, yes, I agree. Twilight sucks for a number of reasons. But if someone likes it...well, who am I to tell someone they shouldn't be happy?

yes, guide them to something that's written better, has a better storyline, and more accurate grasp of folklore.

I so wish that Twilight were intentional parody. =-(

Maybe when the scary movie retards get a hold of it, then it will be worthwhile. Doubt it though. I don't think they know how to do a subtler parody, sadly.

-edit-
(Thanks JE. I just assumed for some reason it wasn't on youtube since I had previous troubles with SNL making people pull their vids from there. my bad)

for non US people: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9GjvwFH15Q

funny how the actress for the parody is better looking than the one used in an actual movie.

I find that really fucking funny actually.

I mean, couldn't they just have done a typical "pretty girl, except she dresses poorly/wears glasses" routine? That would have been funny.

yeah, I'm a heartless bastard to make fun of a girl who isn't pretty, but you know what? I'm not going to buy an immortal mofo falling for... well, she looks like the most average white girl ever. She's not even attractive in some manner; I'll be honest, fair skin is nice and all, but it's not the be all, and aside from fair skin, and long hair (not even well kept), the actress just seems like such a bad choice.

the actor for edward looking the way he does helps a lot to convey the fact that he's freaking weird; and 'supposed' to look like the guy who founded Mormonism.

the casting director for twilight should seriously be taken out back and smashed against the wall face first. all that I see is a boring face, and this face supposedly captures the heart of an ancient pedophiel blood drinker I mean 'vegetarian' (who eats animals... wtf?).

I'll admit that a pretty face with no substance trying to influence me actually pisses me off, and that I drive off people b/c of that.

However, someone who is bog-standard, and boring in terms of personality as well? I don't buy it, as the convincing plot of not only a vampire movie, but of any movie.

I mean, fuck, when Sabrina comes back from Europe, she's cultured, poised, educated, fashionable, and an actually different person than when she left. She's no longer super impressed by rich people; and her change in personality leads to everything changing when she comes back to the US.

A vampire who falls for some, boring, plain, and even shallow, high schooler..... it's puerile, really. I mean, it's not like Bella even does anything that demonstrates that she's outside of the norm from other people. She doesn't volunteer at an animal shelter, or take care of an invalid relative. She's a boring person, and a boring character; everything else that's added in feels like it was written in; meaning that it's got a hell of a lot of problems.

I just think it's more than slightly creepy that a book marketed to preteens has a vampire eat a baby out of a girls utereus.

That is some fucked up shit right there.

Stop lying, you liar. Kristen Steward is hotness incarnate, they just buried her under lousy makeup in that teengirl movie. In Adventureland she was au naturel and she was amazing :

If that's the most average girl to you, I want to live where you live, I mean seriously, what the hell dude.

For comparison's sake, here are a few pictures with makeup. I think it speaks for itself :

It'd be nicer if she could act, though.

Then again, maybe the script in the other movie sucked, too.

She looks ok and a bit of cute, but nothing mindblowing (note: all I know from her are these pics I just saw). She really does look like a normal girl.

Anyone who is 103 and a virgin gets no respect in my book. Being a vampire who doesn't drink blood just makes him twice as impotent.

+1 with Kobaja here.
The makeup, styling, lighting and photoshopping of celebrities is where they get their hotness. That and that familiarity breeds attraction (to some extent anyway). So celebrities seem prettier because people believe they know them better.

In person they're not much different from anyone else except for being in-shape (since that isn't the norm these days). I'm sure at any college campus I could find a hundred people at least as attractive as most any celebrity. The "hottest man/woman alive" bullshit that trash like People Magazine espouse is simply that. Bullshit.

Then again... seeing a completely unrelated to twilight picture of Robert Pattinson (or whatever that guy's name is).... Maybe the movie just sucks the life out of the people in it....

Edit:fuck it. For somereason I can't code it correctly right now... Maj has the picture.
