You mean anyone who play GURPS, WoD and such are fucking retards? Especially DH/RT players?Roy wrote:Crit fumbles, and anyone who ever uses them is a fucking retard. Next topic now.
Lol, that's true in my experience.Koumei wrote:Okay, next point for discussion is that people who tend to wear black (and could possibly be called "goths" back in the day, before emo took over) tend to make shitty DMs.

Well WoD is a game that plays out raping dogs as a good thing, so yes I'd say they are highly retarded. GURPS is a game with more schizophrenia than D&D, and that's saying something.Princess wrote:You mean anyone who play GURPS, WoD and such are fucking retards? Welp now this topic is just flat-out about discrimination (if it ever wasn't). Wearing black does not make you "goth" or "emo" any more than it makes you Johnny Cash. And the idea that it makes you a bad GM is even more specious.Koumei wrote:Okay, next point for discussion is that people who tend to wear black (and could possibly be called "goths" back in the day, before emo took over) tend to make shitty DMs.

For a minute, I used to be "a guy" in the TTRPG "industry". Now I'm just a nobody. For the most part, it's a relief.

I don't know Koumei well enough to make the call on that.

Playing Rifts taught me that tabletop RPGs are not to be taken even the slightest bit seriously.
Also, TSR, WotC, Palladium Books and whoever the cockhound that is responsible for FATAL is taught me that the RPG industry is filled with idiotic, egocentric hacks.

That plus a few intelligent egocentric hacks and you've got the entire industry.Datawolf wrote:Also, TSR, WotC, Palladium Books and whoever the cockhound that is responsible for FATAL is taught me that the RPG industry is filled with idiotic, egocentric hacks.

Fucking horrible system.Princess wrote:And how about Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader?
And this is coming from a current long-term successful DH game master.
Six months of game time and I can't fucking drill into the players' heads that they have to give me either what they rolled to hit or what the locational score is.
Six. Fucking. Months. Every successful attack
"what did you roll to hit?"
"Oh I don't remember, in the 50's."
"Great. I need a number so I can tell you where you hit."
"Oh... I forgot."
"HOW CAN YOU FORGET YOU HIT LAST TURN TWO MINUTES AGO AND WE HAD THIS DISCUSSION THEN!!!"
I've houseruled that if you don't read me your fucking to-hit number or the hit location number, you miss. It's just barely starting to make a dent in the players' memory. I used to default it to the heaviest armored part of the target but I just got complaints that combat took too long at that point. They didn't connect that I was penalizing them.
*grumbles*
Fuck Dark Heresy's mechanics. Fuck them in the ass.
I don't think all targets are equally likely to hit.
And instead of fiddling with rolling a d6 every time, just reverse the numbers.![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/wink2.gif)
That's how it's done in WFRP, and never had any problem. Are there like other die rolls involved in hitting besides the percentile roll?

The rule is to reverse the die numbers.
But, my players scoop up their roll immediately after telling me if they succeed or not. They're having trouble grokking that the number still has a use once they pass the binary choice of "do you hit?"
Rolling a D8 with 2 numbers listed for the torso would work pretty well I guess. Still, it shouldn't be that hard to remember within a single combat to hold onto that roll and reverse it when I ask for it.
It's like asking how to roll a saving throw in D20 every single time you have to roll the save on levels of elementary rules.

Perhaps you could change the question from "Do you hit?" to "Where do you hit?"
Or something similar. Of course, the human brain is a marvelous thing and may gloss over the difference anyway.
