So the Pathfinder kickstater for the MMO was actually a Demo.

Now they started the real one:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/167 ... andbox-mmo

Rewards aren't that great, but ifyou pledge $100 you can be a Beta invite, however, it takes $1000 to be an Alpha playtester.

They're asking for a thousand dollars for the privilege of playing the game before anything works right?

Mechwarrior online got people to pay $120. I guess the Pathfinder team wants to see how far they can go. We know people will pay that amount, the question becomes how many? I'm going to guess they get at least a dozen people stupid enough to go in for the $1000 level. Probably hundreds at the $100 level.

You don't understand. It's $1,000 for first dibs on your character name. Given that two people paid $10,000 to make their fan characters "official" in the homestuck kickstarter, I don't think you should underestimate the investment some people have in their fictional identities.

So far only 6 are at $1000 level but 450 at 100 (I'm not counting the ones inbetween that get 100 reward as well)

Holy fuck, I was just making an educated guess, it looks like I may have aimed too low.

Prone Shooter finally got errataed to actually do something. Also, they finally decided that yes, monks can flurry with a single weapon after all. Supposedly did some work on clarifying the attack action as well.

so its like second life and SW:G where what you build in the game becomes permanent world features? would this include spells cast that alter the land itself?

guild full of wizards summon forth a mountain to place a castle atop and caverns dug below with some spells charging millions of IGC. PFO will have KEI addicts looking for enchanters all over the place.

I'm guessing Tallon Zec. He reminds me of one of the assholes that used to harass my ex.

(If I'm right, relax. I probably made lots of threats back then to you, but these days I don't really care if you harass her or not).

I have read the mythic adventure playtest, and I have a simple question: what is the purpose of this piece of shit?

I can't see any difference between the things a mythic character can do, and the things a non-mythic character can do: the feats are he same (yippie, PA gives +3 to damages and you can quick draw a potion! lol), spells are the same (except you can use hero points to double your healing spells, lol)...

Oh, and mythic characters have whatever-point, which allow to gain an action (or gain shitty bonus instead). It's basically the same as hero points (from the APG), except that whatever-point are regained each day. What's the point of the whole playtest, except to say "gaining hero point each day is stronger than each level"?

I've been asking myself that as well. Ostensibly, the idea is that you'll suddenly be able to beat up demigods and demon lords and whatever, but I highly doubt they'll actually come up with enemies that couldn't have been beaten by regular, non-mythic PCs. Unless they come up with mythic defenses that can only be bypassed by mythic attacks, which would just be a stupid tautology ("we need mythic attacks so that we can overcome mythic defenses and we need mythic defenses so we can defend against mythic attacks").

Does it seem to anyone else that the kickstarter is going very slowly for them, now?

For Pathfinder Online? The Kickstarter for the demo raised ~$300K, and I wouldn't be surprised if they got just as much from the new one. From the same people, no doubt.

Yes, but their goal is a tad bit higher than that, and it hasn't grown much in the past several days (if memory serves).

Part of me wonders if they are giving monks this so that they can slowly take it away.

Maybe they had an epithany and will finally the balance the game (ratyher than pretend to). They could usher in sanity in their design from now on...

Maybe they'll use their success as a springboard to Pathfinder 2 >_>

They won't start production on pf2 till pf1 stops selling as well as it currently is.

But good news on amulet of mighty fists, the summoner and cleric in my group will like that for their companions.

Not sure why they haven't created a unarmed strike only version yet, since it currently still takes a neckslot + 2x the price for monks. While knowing it is a problem for such a long time.

Finally the monks becomes 'very powerful'!

It baffles me how people who ever played a monk can believe that, but they do. If the Monk moves his full speed and can't make his super awesome single attack (which will miss) he can Aid Another instead!

Or he can go fuck himself.

I don't even.

Well, the recent ruling restores the monk to the power level that most people got used to - namely, it's back to being closer to the fighter than to the commoner.

And the monk can now do the job it was created to do, namely - be a two-level dip for unarmored, wisdom based low-saves builds.

I don't doubt that they've over-tapped their base with two separate kickstarters. Plus at least a chunk of their base seriously believes MMOs ruined tabletop games forever, so an MMO isn't going to appeal to them anyway.

Production, no. Work, yes. I'd be quite surprised if they aren't working on it already.
