I don't think anyone can. He's fun to play murder pinball with though. Also, target practice.

I thought some time ago that Elennsar was JE's sock puppet - didn't he use to have the same signature about Uwe Boll's movies. at least?

JE = Justice Eagle? If so, JE is far too smart and sensible to be that clown.

From BG's private forum comes this surprisingly accurate analogy.
Archmage Joda wrote:I hate how this forum is starting to turn into lord of the flies...
Archmage Joda, later on wrote:Well, in the book Lord of the Flies, the group of boys who become stranded on that island start out as a close-knit cooperative community. As the book progresses, though, things start to go to crap as they split into different factions, let personal rivalries get in the way of just about everything, etc.

I use it as an analogy because when I first came to BG, it was a community much like early in Lord of the Flies, where, while there were of course disagreements, they didn't get in the way too much, whereas now, we've got all these DoWs popping up, petty feuds crowding otherwise interesting threads, and the factions of those who side with Jack (Ubernoob) and those who side with Ralph (JaronK), and at this rate someone's gonna get a boulder dropped on them.
I'm Jack

I was going to say a total brain dead fucktard who has fell victim to his own Confusion aura, Fael style. Because that's what Elenn is.

Just check the private forum for many examples of him proving himself unarmed in a Duel of Wits.

What the hell is with Jaron's "mount." It's a Warbeast Hunting Bat, which for starters makes as much sense as a War War Horse, because a Desmodu hunting bat is already a warbeast. Secondly, a Hunting Bat is a medium, 4 HD creature. He is seriously getting an "advanced" Hunting Bat even before applying the Warbeast template. Where the fucking hell did he find the cost for that?

Of course, even if we for some reason allowed all that bllshit, JaronK is still purchasing a "mount" that he is personally too large to ride. It's a large flyer with no special carrying capacity powers, so it can't carry a medium character into battle as a mount. And he's a medium character.

But the real kicker I think is the fact that it's an exotic trained fighting beast and he has a Handle Animal mod of +0. He can't take 20 to get it to do anything. What the hell? For all the obvious work into finding all those loopholes, you'd think that he would have kicked off for some kind of loophole that actually fucking worked.

Where does this rule come from? I thought all large flyers could be ridden by medium creatures, like the griffon or giant eagle.

And the MM2 prices for mounts system needs to banned from all build contests. A warbest T-Rex only costs 1,525. That's a CR 9 monster that you can buy at level 2 or 3.

A creature with a fly speed can move through the air at the indicated speed if carrying no more than a light load. (Note that medium armor does not necessarily constitute a medium load.) All fly speeds include a parenthetical note indicating maneuverability, as follows:
A medium creature would be too heavy most likely.

As part of my mocking of JaronK's "optimization" level. For the campaign test, I went ahead and also bought an advanced monster using the pricing from the Warbeast bullshit.

I bought a 9HD large fleshraker. Who could probably solo the first 5-10 encounters. But whatever.

The best part is, I'm not even going to have it attack, ever. I'm going to just use it for the 60 movement speed in outdoor combat, and have it guard doors when we enter buildings.

A Large Creature with 18 Str has up to 200 pounds as a light load.

20 Str would be 266 pounds.

So yeah, it's manageable. Mainly if the adventurer travel light.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

4e has more options than 3e.

Also, use skill challenges to simulate a familiar or something. Apparently, page 42 can solve everything.

Could someone smite JaronK's rampant assumptions for me? I'm slightly banned at the moment. And for the love of god, int to str and dex checks is amazing. Screw skills because those don't matter. Trip? Initiative? That's literally the best part of the entire class and JaronK STILL hasn't noticed it for all his fapping. In case anyone wants to crosspost this:
JaronK wrote: Uber... you still evidently don't know the class. Factotums can't even cast spells with Xp costs. Furthermore, EVERY TIME I've mentioned that you need to create a dose of the poison to work off of if using Minor Creation, because yes, you do need material costs. You do not, however, need a full dose (it says just a little bit of the substance) so one dose should last you a good long time.
This means your DM has to actually let you buy that shit. That's incredibly limiting in play due to WBL and actually fucking finding the stuff.
JaronK wrote:I've never said otherwise. You mean you've been talking about this the whole time and didn't know how their casting worked? You've seriously been arguing this whole time without even knowing that?
My brother had a hardcopy, so I had access to the book up until school started. I read the class, made my analysis, and put it away. As it turns out, my memory was bad in favor of the factotum casting actually being MORE powerful. If I had thought it was more powerful than it is and still discounted it as worthless then how useful is it now?
JaronK wrote:It works for you, which means a Factotum's Shivering Touch is unstoppable to a dragon.
Scintillating scales. Nobody fucking cares about SR. They care about real defenses that aren't negated by a fourth level spell.
JaronK wrote:What YOU'VE been overlooking. I've said it the whole time.
I agree with you for once and this is how you react?
JaronK wrote:It's a clear breakpoint, but there's plenty more useful things to do past that point.
Not until level 19.
JaronK wrote:There's a whole thread on the subject that I started. I've also cited it numerous times as one of the reasons Factotums are such better skillmonkeys. I thought you'd actually read the class though, so I didn't think I had to mention it that much.
You still don't get it, do you? Adding a second stat to str and dex checks (not skill checks, because those don't matter) is fucking amazing. Factotums make incredibly good tripmonkies, grapplers, bullrushers, tripsages, and a variety of other all the time abilities. The fact that you can't see how incredibly useful this is fucking astounds me with all your fapping for the class.
JaronK wrote:Because it's obvious and everyone knows about it? I was operating under the assumption that you'd read the class and simply hadn't figured out what was strong about it... not that you'd never seen it. Brains over Brawn is obviously incredible. Cunning Insight is obvious too. Citing Cunning Insight for the saves or Brains over Brawn as why Factotums are powerful would be like citing creating undead as a reason Dread Necromancers are powerful... you don't have to because everyone already knows about that.

Uber... you hadn't even read the damn class this whole time? That's absolutely pathetic. You've been arguing entirely from ignorance this whole darn time! No wonder you were so completely off base.
No. I've been arguing with the faulty memory that factotum casting was actually better than it is and the assumption that you'd eventually figure out how kick ass Brains over Brawn is and raise the point so I could actually respect your analysis.

Stop jumping to conclusions and start analyzing like I did months ago when I wasn't even making Tiers.

Haha, NachtSieger is full of fail.
I never knew "examining the core books" meant "Let's take everything that's explicitly in 3.5e and use it to make my point".

System for inventing one's own magic items? Make it yourself, you tool. 4e's magic item system is flexible as hell, and pricing it won't be a mishmash of a numberfest.

Familiars? Who the bleeding seventeen hells actually liked these, aside from the flavor? They're useless aside from skill ranks in nobody cares where and are a giant target. Even better, you could "give it up" (which isn't an actual loss) for Abrupt Jaunt, which is so superior it's actually hilarious. If you really want a Familiar that bad in 4e, approach the DM, let him know you're going to have a woodland animal that you've imbued magic into follow you around and be background for the most part.

Animal companions? Useless as hell (Ranger) or a class feature that was completely better than entire classes (Druid). Plus, the Ranger in 4e's coming out with one anyways.

Crafting Constructs? FFS, more BS for Wizards to lord around about how much better they are than everyone else.

A fully functional, albeit flawed multiclassing system? 4e has that too, and it's infinitely better than 3e's multiclass.

Interesting and varied magic items? I see you accidentally typed "3e" instead of "4e".
