Battlefield Heroes Sucks

Post by PhoneLobster »

I nearly wrote an essay on this. Then I decided it wasn't worth it.

Battlefield Heroes is a "free to play" FPS. Its basically a typical under featured crap EA scam, but you can get away with not paying for it.

But most notably the actual game design sucks.

The class role integrity is shot to hell and they aren't even official out of beta.

The "support" class is less "supportive" than the heavy gunner class.

The "slow" heavy gunner class is in fact the fastest class in the game.

The "egg shell with hammer" class has no actual hammers, but the other classes do, even the "super tough tank" class.

The "long range combat specialist" is worse at long range combat than... everyone else.

The "short range combat specialist" (ironically the same guy as above) is ALSO worse at short range combat than... everyone else.

The "all rounder" class has a strong weakness to actual tanks (the vehicle that is).

The soldier class has an ability that is supposed to be a sixth sense battlefield sensory ability, that can't reveal stealthed targets, instead its damage boost power can do that stepping all over and rendering useless investment in the sixth sense thing. Especially since the damage boost ability ALSO nearly kills the stealth using egg shell class on its own.

That same damage booster ability damages guys flying planes, pretty much killing the "egg shell without hammers" outright. But the class that should be good at anti plane, the heavy machine gun guy, sucks at it while the damage booster guy and the otherwise unremarkable sniper take them out with ease (even though they weren't intended to).

Oh yeah, and the game is full of bullshit boring "+ damage" manually activated short duration abilities, most of which are wildly good, except for the egg shell without hammer one, which barely lets them keep up with unboosted base weapon damage from everyone else.

The game gives you points for completing silly little missions. Missions that have objectives that make you actively sabotage your team's chances to actually win battles.

... And I could go on...

Go on.

EDIT: Looks like it's trying to be a TF2 copycat, and the website has blaring music that hurts my ears.

Hey, maybe they're trying to fix all the design issues of CoD with this. Nah.

Actually its from the 'Battlefield' series of games.

EA is basically running a scam in which they are exploiting the name with a cheap ass rip off to roll some rubes with.

But the damn thing has less features and is somewhat less playable than its 'predecessor' titles. Even more than one title back. Even three titles back to the FIRST title of the series. From years and years ago.

AND you can only play the stupid fucking thing online so it's useless for LANs (which is what I primarily went to check it out for)
