Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.

He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

I think someone was watching Dragonball Z when they made this episode. I mostly approve of the episode. Discord seems to have been the one that caught the idiot ball this time, with a close second to the Princesses for not doing something about Twilight's stained glass window...

Overall, Season 4 was fucking awesome. Pinkie Pride stuck out as being REALLY bad though. Take out Weird Al's voice work, and it reads like someone's Mary Sue OC pony arriving in town and outdoing one of the established characters.
Rainbow Dash is usually kind of bitchy, but she was WAY more bitchy in Pinkie Pride.
Other season 4 observations:
1. Bringing back a gen1 villain seems to have worked out very well. I wonder if we'll see Grogar or The Smooze?
2. Applejack confirmed for sexiest pony when she bothers to clean up.
3. I've gotten "Apples to the Core" stuck in my head since the episode aired. Pinkie Apple Pie remains one of the better episodes of the season.
4. Not sure how I feel about Daring Do being "real" (as far as in-universe terms go). Ahuizotl is pretty badass though, I'll forgive it.
5. Big Mac sings! Tell me why that's not awesome. Protip:
6. Are there more ass shots this season, or am I just looking harder?

So I was re-watching mlp... again... for the third time... and got to #61, Apple Family Reunion, and just stopped everything when i heard Granny Smith say "the last reunion was nearly a hundred moons ago". The last Apple family reunion we know about took place in episode #1 Friendship is Magic: part 1, confirmed in episode #4 Applebuck Season.
That means that the first sixty episodes of my little pony took nearly a hundred moons to transpire.
As far as timekeeping is concerned, seconds are name checked, so are minutes, hours, days, weeks (with our same weekday names), months (#68 Daring Don't), and years. But a moon is something seperate.
It could be that a moon is like our fortnight, but it could also be as long as ~28 days or as short as 8 days. Which means that it took between 2.19 to 3.84 to 7.67 years to go through sixty episodes.
There were also three family reunion photos featured, but we don't see the entire page so we can only infer that there have been a least four reunions at Sweet Apple Acres. The last photo in Granny Smith's presentation had 12 ponies in it, so it couldn't have been the most recent reunion, as the last reunion in episode #1 name checked 15 Apples (but you can count 20 in the shot just after Twilight rejects their invitation to eat, and 23 after she reluctantly reconsiders, excluding Granny Smith). From that, Applejack is expecting ~240 relatives after Granny Smith's "hundred fold" comment.
Just thought I'd share.

In other news: there were 69 ponies in the top down do-si-do shot (68 in every observable dancing couple, plus Applejack) and 39 in the picture in front of the barn. What happened to the thirty ponies who just raised this barn?

It's also entirely possible that Granny Smith is just senile.Hicks wrote:So I was re-watching mlp... again... for the third time... and got to #61, Apple Family Reunion, and just stopped everything when i heard Granny Smith say "the last reunion was nearly a hundred moons ago". Ah, but between those two episodes was Discord. He would totally make the moon cycle through all its phases 80 times in minute for the lulzs.
Alternatively, since the sun and moon are diametrically opposed, why does the moon even have phases. It's entirely possible that they don't map to time at all. It that case, 100 moons would just be 100 nights.

Hicks: What's funny is that in Princess Twilight Sparkle pt2, when Celestia is making her speech for the Summer Sun Festival, she states that the release and defeat of Nightmare Moon took place at the time of the previous Summer Sun Festival, meaning that the first three seasons of the show happen over the course of a single year.
