I, too, agree. There were several occasions when I noticed this strange disconnection between players and the world from a splatbook's point of view. Players should be confronted with difficult descisions, their ethics and moral being tested, yaddayadda, but NPC nations are mostly totally black/whit...

Hey, that splatbook isn't actually that bad, I thought it had several cool ideas. Admitted, if you want to have cyberlimbs as a purely technological thing without a new power source/corruption of your soulzzz/whatever, it's not that helpful.Prak_Anima wrote:There's also Monte Cook's Chaositech. SRDs are good because they let people get a look at the rules before they shell out money for the actual book. They are also pretty bad for most RPG systems for this very reason, because if the rule set is awful the audience will run away after taking a look at the SRD. A lot of people are really b...

However, while Gav Thorpe's comment was justifiable and he is a shitty designer anyway, that really has little to do with Pathfinder and SKR's bullshit defense of his system. See: for the race design list it's all on the same list . There isn't any way that 2 points on one list could have a differe...

@Seerow: don't repeat my mistake, just stop talking to him. He has even less of a clue about 4E than I do, nothing to say of his bizarre anti-3E rumblings. Maybe he'll just go away instead of eating up valuable space and, more important, poster's energy in like every thread here in IMHO. Ontopic: no...

It's like a trainwreck with spills of blood and corpses lying around... you can't stop looking, no matter how nasty the look of it. Anyways, back to topic. Shadzar, your whole argument is a thing that needs to go away. DM's who think they don't owe their players anything (like a good game, fun and s...

I know its totally pointless to argue with you, Shadzar, but just for the fun of it: you realize that a party, which, according to your prior posting, you would give hand-picked treasure if you can see a group benefit in doing so, consists of single, individual players? So, giving Bob a vorpal sword...

Shadzar, you are an idiot beyond believe. Do you really go your way handing players just what showed up on the random chart, with no regard whatsoever to their wishes and tastes? I get that it becomes old really fast if every session, a player's favourite weapon conveniently shows up in a better ver...

If a player wants a magical rapier they can engage with the world and figure out where magical rapiers are and then go get one, not just wait for the GM to fucking hand them one. Too often in a lot of games information is something that the GM is blathering on about so that the players will go do w...

As far as traps go, I'd avoid the HP-tax style traps that are shown in the DMG. You can maybe plant them in obvious places like treasure chests or doors, but don't just sprinkle them throughout the dungeon. It just encourages taking 20 every ten feet. I'd try to actually turn the trap into an encou...

Maybe some of you guys are aware of this label called Super Genius Games from Own K.C. Stephens? Now they have this line called Spell Variants, where they do these vari...

A lot of problems could be solved by making starting races have two HD and then using the RAW. Sounds very interesting... out of curiosity, what are 'a lot of' problems in tghis case? If you as a DM had to pick one AP, which one would it be? Likewise, which AP would you like to play (again) as a player? I'm asking because I have little experience with Paizo's APs, aside from two sessions of Savage Tide and the introduction from Kingmaker (the game is kinda gearing up and we will ...

Judging by how the math failed them with skill challenges it's pretty clear that the 4E devs didn't care about anything that did not involve moving miniatures on a combat map. Well, I wouldn't exactly say that they didn't care, counting the number of skill challenge errata... :thumb: They (as in Mi...

My basic idea was to create monster classes where powers came in incrementally, and then offset the better powers by pricing them and using them as magic items (removing slots from your eight-item limit). By doing that, you could have alternate monsters that would be able to take real classes and s...

If I read the text right you can intimidate someone in a social situation with antagonize and the target will have to attack you with a melee attack. Antagonize [...] Intimidate: The creature flies into a rage. On its next turn, the target must attempt to make a melee attack against you. The effect...

Oh for crap's sake. Antagonize Whether with biting remarks or hurtful words, you are adept at making creatures angry with you. Prerequisites: Dex 13, base attack bonus +1. Benefit: You can make Diplomacy and Intimidate checks to make creatures respond to you with hostility. No matter which skill yo...
