60-odd Magic Items inspired by Pop Culture

Post by Prak »

And counting.

The Really Abstract Locations thread got me in the mood to run a Xiaolin Showdown game again, since it makes the actual showdowns more doable, so I went through a wiki entry for the show and made most of the Wu for D&D. If it's not here, I think it's dumb and so I'm not going to waste my time on it. If it doesn't have any actual stats listed, I don't know what to do with it. Some of the other one's I'm taking a bit of license with abilities to make them fit a D&D world, play well with other Wu, or just look better (to me)

I'll probably add other items from other "fetch quest" shows later.

Wus
All Wu are magic items, meaning that weapons/attacks and armour, unless otherwise stated, have a bonus on attack and damage/armour bonus equal to +1/3ChLv. Wu that allow the use of spells use the user's character level as Caster Level, unless a Caster Level is specified. All Wu are Use Activated, unless specified otherwise, and use a command word (the Wu's name).
  • Mantis Flip Coin- A red and gold coin with a square hole in the center. When activated (which requires flipping the coin in the air in addition to calling it's name) it grants +1/3 ch. lv. to dex and +ch lv to Jump
  • Mountain Tunic(Two Ton Tunic)- This light weight tunic, when activated, provides the protection of Magic Adamantine Carapace and weighs 80 lbs. RM: Weighs 1 oz while active.
  • Eye of Dashi- A large pendant of a stylised eye which grants use of a ranged touch attack that deals 1d6/2ChLv electric damage.
  • Third Arm Sash- A long sash that ends in three claw-like tassels on one side. When activated, it acts as a third arm with a 10' reach, and grants +1/3ChLv Str. When used by an Earth Element warrior it grants a reach attack that does 1d6/2ChLv bludg. damage.
  • Fist of Tebigong- An oversized magic gauntlet which grants great strength. When activated it gives +1/3ChLv to strength, and is effectively a Magic Force Shield.
  • Sky Boots (Jet Bootsu)- A pair of large metal and leather boots, when activated they allow use of Spider Climb.
  • Monkey Staff- A staff of hard wood with a stylised monkey decoration on the top. When activated it grants +1/3 ch lv to Dex, +ChLv to climb, jump, tumble and balance. Starting when activated, and after every full ten minutes it is used, the user gains a random monkey attribute from the following list. After five (mechanical) attributes are gained, the user makes a will save (DC 20) with each additional attribute (even cosmetic attributes). On a failed save, the character believes it is a monkey, and will act as such until the staff is removed from their possession.
    Monkey Attributes
1-Monkey Feet, feet are usable as hands, but character walks on all fours (either scampering like a monkey, or knuckle walking like a gorilla), Character also gains a climb speed equal to their landspeed.
2-Brachiation, arms visibly and somewhat grotesquely lengthen and character may move at full land speed through dense trees)
3-Bite, damage appropriate to size, character's teeth lengthen and sharpen, mouth forms a more muzzle like shape, character tends to vocalize like a monkey, but can still speak
4-Prehensile Tail, aids climbing (+4 circumstance), can wield simple weapons at str-4
5-Fur, Character's body grows rough bristle like hair, somewhat insulating (protects against low climate temperatures but not cold damage)
6-Craving for Fruit, the character must make a dc 20 will save every ten minutes not spent eating fruit (other things can be done while eating, but character is effectively minus an arm, or can't use their tail if they've gained it). If the save is failed, the character drops what they're doing and seeks fruit.
7-Strength of an Ape, character gains a +1/3 ch lv enh. Bonus to str
8-Agility of the Monkey, character gains +4 racial bonus to dex, and +6 racial bonus to Climb and Jump as long as staff is in possession.
9-Minor attribute with no mechanical effect
    10-No attribute
-Other attributes can be added at GM's discretion (like poo flinging and leg humping if you really want)

During the Year of the Monkey, when the Monkey Staff is used in conjunction with the Tongue of Saiping, the character gains use of an army of monkeys, apes, girallons and baboons. For each point of Charisma modifier, the character gains use of a number of primates equal to (ChLv-Creature CR)-1, (they cannot control any creature with a CR greater than ChLv-2). For some unknown reason, the creatures summoned by this combination are green.
  • Tangle Web Comb- An ornate gold and ivory hair comb. The user may make a ranged touch attack to Entangle one target. This attack requires a DC 18 concentration check to use, if it fails the user is entangled instead.
  • Golden Tiger Claws- A single Claw Gauntlet made of gold and onyx, with short dull orange fur around the hand. Allows use of Gate as the spell cast by a 17th level caster by physically slashing at the air and tearing a hole in space. Keeping a gate open does not require concentration, but still cannot be held open for longer than 1 rnd per caster level.
  • Changing Chopsticks- A pair of red and gold chopsticks. Shrinks user or another object to fine size. RM: the user or an object increases in size by up to one category per three ChLv. Both items are required to reverse this change, if the chopsticks alone are used, they have their normal effect.
  • Sword of the Storm- A bronze falchion style sword with gracefully curved hand guards and a a eagle head pommel. Mechanically it will not function like a sword, at all, passing straight through it's target like so much air. Instead, it forms a small tornado, causing 1d6/2ChLv slashing damage as the winds rip at the opponent. It also allows use of Control Winds. If used in conjunction with the Eye of Dashi, allows user to fly at twice landspeed with perfect maneuverability.
  • Shroud of Shadows- A long cloak which flows almost liquid and is pure and deepest black. Allows use of Improved Invisibility.
  • Helmet of Jong- A bronze helm with two mandible like spikes curving inwards from the sides and a crown of spines. Helm of All Around Vision. RM: Subject is blinded.
  • The Ring of Nine Dragons does not exist because I don't want to pound out something that is accurate and isn't crippling or broken-
  • Falcon's Eye- A smallish medallion of a round ruby set in gold with a feathered eyebrow like detail. Can be held to the eye or simply worn. Allows user to see through mundane substances less than 5' thick, increases range of vision five fold (ignore half the penalty on a ranged weapon due to range increments, round up), and see normally in mundane and magical darkness.
  • Sapphire Dragon- A statuette of a serpentine dragon coiled into a tea kettle like shape, with head as spout and a bent tail as handle. When found it appears to be black, but the colour is actually soot which keeps the Dragon dormant. Once this soot is rubbed off, The statuette comes to life at it's full 32' length and acts with it's own malevolence. It can be made dormant once more by again covering it in soot, which requires the smoke produced by about five square feet of flame per 1' radius spot of dragon (so call it ~200 sq ft. of fire).
    • Huge Construct
    • Hit Die: 12d10+40 (100hp)
    • Init: +2
    • AC: 26 (+2 AC, -2 Size, +20 natural)
    • Speed: 60'
    • Base Attack/Grapple: +8/+26
    • Attack: Bite +18m (1d10+10), Breath +10rt (petrification)
    • Space/Reach: 15'/15'
    • Special Attacks: Petrifying Breath
    • Special Qualities: Control Petrified Creature (as Dominate Monster, works only on creatures petrified by Breath)
    • Saves: Fort +4, Ref +6, Will +4
    • Abilities: Str 30, Dex 14, Con-, Int-, Wis-, Cha-
    • CR: 9
  • Serpent's Tail- A gold disembodied tail. It is a Ghost touch item, and makes the user incorporeal while it stays a physical object. RM: makes incorporeal characters corporeal.
  • Orb of Tournami- A large crystal orb. As Decanter of Endless Water, also allows use of Control Water. Alternatively, a Water Element warrior may use it to release a cone of cold, dealing 1d6/2ChLv cold damage in a 30' cone.
  • Star Hanabi- A golden star medallion with a cut ruby center. May be modified to be a bolo tie because of dumb texans. Sheds light as a torch while active. Fire Element warriors can make use of a ranged attack which deals 1d6/2ChLv fire damage, and Flight over fire/lava
  • Lotus Twister- A short rod similar to a sword hilt, with a yellow lotus on top. Increases user's reach 20', +1/3ChLv Dex, +1/3ChLv Dodge bonus to AC.
  • Longi Kite- A fancy dragon shaped kite, grants character a winged flight speed of 80' (average).
  • Tongue of Saiping- A long silver forked snake tongue which wraps around the user's neck, the forks coiling around the end to secure it. Character may speak with animals, Allows use of Dominate Animal. RM: Character's speech is incoherent.
  • Sun Chi Lantern- A spherical gold and ruby bulls eye lantern which copies the chi of those it's light shines upon. The user copies any one spell like effect the target can use, from any source, of a level up to 1/3rd of the user's ChLv. The ability remains copied for 1 rnd per ChLv, and can be used as frequently as the target can normally use it.
  • Heart of Jong- A large ruby that looks like a slightly oversized human heart. Animate Object/Element/Substance and Awakens it. RM: as Feeble Mind and Statue, but subject cannot freely revert to normal state.
  • Reversing Mirror- A large oval hand mirror, with a handle on either end perpendicular to the length of the mirror (like so |{O}| ). Reflects one attack per round to the character who made it. Will also reverse the effects of other Wu as mentioned in those Wu descriptions (the RM notation).
  • Shard of Lightning- Literally a shard of crackling energy bound into a wood and bone handle. When activated, the user may act with the speed of lightning, but only for the length of time of a lightning strike. Allows use of Time Stop, user is hasted for the duration of the time stop. When the time stop ends, only about a second has actually passed.
  • Crystal Glasses- Gold glasses with multi-facted crystal lenses. Allows the user to see into the future. In combat this manifests a +1/3ChLv insight bonus to Initiative and AC. Alternately the user can see far into the future, effectively getting to ask the DM plot points that haven't been reached yet. DM is allowed to smack the player for excessive use and player must buy any booze/asprin the GM requires after use of this item. RM: The combat bonuses are instead penalties as the user is shown a false future, and the GM gets to make up whatever crazy lies he wants about the plot.
  • Wushu Helmet- A thick bronze face mask. User gains the Deflect Arrows feat, usable a number of times per round equal to 1/4ChLv
  • Wings Tinabi- A bronze and wood back plate with a broad wing coming off of either side. As Longi Kite, but leaves rainbow vapour trail that may be tracked as normal movement over ground.
  • Gloves of Jisaku- Large gold gauntlet, when activated it forms a solid orb around the fist, with two large tines coming off of either side. Causes objects to swiftly fly to the user, as if the violent thrust version of Telekinesis had been used, except the direction is always towards the user, and a DC 20 Ref save allows the user to catch the object. RM: objects move away from user.
  • Thorn of Thunderbolt- Bronze and ruby Sai, allows use of a ranged touch attack, 1d6/ch lv electric damage
  • Ju-ju Flytrap- A large stylized gold flower bud, when activated, the user shoots a swarm of stinging insects at a target (as spider swarm summoned by Summon Swarm, but with a 60' (average) flight speed, and they aren't actually arachnids or spiders if that matters). A ranged touch attack is required to summon the swarm in the target's space, a miss causes the swarm to appear in a random square adjacent to the target (usu. Just roll a d8)
  • Silk Spitter- This Wu is superficially similar to the handle of a punching dagger, but instead of a blade there are two protrusions resembling the head and abdomen of a spider, respectively, each with four legs (and pedipalps for the "head"). When activated, the user emulates the web ability of a gargantuan monstrous spider, with unlimited uses per day.
  • Sands of Time- A large, ornate, wood and gold hour glass. Effectively just an adventure hook. The use of this item causes a scenario which your dm will have to run, or handwave.
  • Ruby of Ramses- Large ruby with agate rays radiating from the base Allows use of Telekinesis and Dominate Monster
  • Mind Reader Conch- A gold conch which, when activated and held to the ear allows the user to know the surface thoughts of those around him. This only has the combat application seen in the show when you're facing idiots who actually plot out their next course of action word for word before they do it...
  • Shadow of Fear- This gold statue of an imposing bird of prey allows use of Manifest Nightmare, with the exception that the conjured image is actually a real manifestation. Use stats appropriate for whatever the person fears (giant spider, deeper darkness, a giant for large, physically imposing, and abusive family members, etc.)
  • Lasso Boa Boa- A long, thin snake, perfectly preserved, and with the flexibility and suppleness of a silk rope. Magic lasso (allows you to initiate a grapple with a ranged touch attack, pin or entangle only). When activated, it becomes a constrictor with CR no greater than you ChLv-2.
  • Monsoon Sandals- A pair of simple geta (though they have a simple cloth strap rather than a thong) with water and wind designs on the fabric. When activated, the user's strides can reach incredible distances. Effectively, you gain two size categories (even though your legs stretch to make you taller than most buildings, you remain comparatively long and thin, and so only gain two size categories) and add 100' to your land speed. However, due to gaining absurdly long, gangly, and rubbery legs, you are unable to make 5 ft. steps while the sandals are active, unless you have had them in your personal possession and trained with them regularly for at least a year.
  • Mosaic Scale- A gold box with precious stone mosaic of weighing scales. Said to be used to cause mischief, it contains the spirit Sabini, an evil parasite. Stat later. When the Scale is broken, Sabini escapes.
  • Monarch Wings- A wooden pair of monarch butterfly wings. When possessed by Sabini, he grows to medium size and needs no host. When Sabini joins the wings and the Mosaic Scale, he becomes "invincible." If Sabini is tricked back into the Mosaic Scales box, the wings can be used to seal it.
  • Lunar Locket- A large enamel locket featuring astrological paintings of the Moon, strung on a cord of wooden beads. Allows the user to control the phases of the moon. (Yeah, I'm having difficulty seeing a utility for this outside of lycanthropes too....)
  • Gills of Hamachi- This golden band with a fish scale aquamarine decoration on the bridge fits around a person's neck, over the throat. While activated, the user breathes water, has a swim speed equal to their land speed, and takes on the gross physical aspects of an aquatic creature (gills, scales, fins, etc.). RM: Removes the ability to breath water of aquatic creatures.
  • Black Beetle- A small statuette of a black beetle. When activated, functions as Dragonscale suit Armour, fire only, minus the +10 ability. Also functions as a folding boat that is fire/lava proof (cannot be worn while in boat form).
  • Sphere of Yun- A burgundy metal sphere with a simple loop handle on top, traps target in a spherical wall of force. Target is unable to use class abilities or racial special attacks, and their gear is separated from them (leaving clothing at the user's choice). Alternatively the user may seal himself inside, and he retains his abilities and gear, but cannot attack outsider the sphere anymore than he can be attacked inside.
  • Emperor Scorpion- A very stylised wood and gold scorpion bracelet, legs forming the clasp around the wearer's lower forearm. Allows the user to take complete control of Shen Gong Wu, any Wu controlled count against his normal item limit. Creatures that are, or are composed of Wu are controlled as if by a Dominate Monster effect. Creatures that are merely contained by Wu, like Sabini, are not affected by this Wu.
  • Zing Zom-bone- This Wu looks like nothing so much as a large stone with a human ribcage carved to cover it's entire horizontal circumference. Allows use of Command on a number of targets equal to the user's wisdom modifier.
  • Fountain of Hui- Looks very much like a large crown of spikes, but isn't worn. The user gains unlimited knowledge. They are helpless as the sudden influx put them into effectively a catatonic state. To make use of this Wu in any real way, the user must also utilize the Eagle Scope, which allows them to focus on specific facts. RM:there is no specified effect for using the Reversing Mirror with this Wu, but I imagine it would effectively remove all knowledge from the user.
  • Eagle Scope- A gold scope shaped like a streamlined eagle. Allows the user to see up to one mile per point of Charisma modifier, and to give another person his point of view. Also allows the use of the Awaken spell, and for one to actually make use of the Fountain of Hui.
  • Moonstone Locust- A stone locust bent in a C shape, with a crystal stretching from head to abdomen to form a full circle. Allows use of the Insect Plague spell.
  • Wushan Geyser- Extremely simple bronze helmet shaped much like a bell, with a fully open face. Allows use of the Mind Rape spell. The user is coated in a thin covering of water while the Wu is worn.
  • Wu Zhi Shooter- A long horn, with an orb near the bell end. When activated a purple mist is loosed in a 30 ft cone, Ref DC 25 to avoid. Targets act as if inebriated and take -4 to Int and Wis, partial actions only for 1d10 rounds.
  • Manchurian Musca- a particularly gruesome and stylised fly statuette. The user is polymorphed into a fly and craves sugar (the craving has no real mechanical effect). Their belongings, including the Wu, meld to their body in this form. It is just barely possible to make out gross physical characteristics of the person in their fly form, such as hair colour and style, or large tattoos, to discern that it is the person polymorphed rather than an actual fly.
  • Golden Finger- A large gold statue of a hand pointing with the index finger. Allows use of Time Stop.
  • Moby Morpher- Allows use of Shapechange, user can take the shape of “unique” individuals.
Image (image included because I neither know what to call it, nor how to describe it.)
  • Rio Reverso- A small item, shaped like a very angular bow, with handle in place of string, and a crystal spike protruding from the center. Returns polymorphed or shapechanged targets to return to their original form.
  • Fancy Feet- Winged sandals of blue and yellow. When activated, the wearer's land speed is increased by 100', they may use airwalk, and hover about three feet above the ground. They don't really "step" while walking anymore, either, while wearing the sandals.
  • Shadow Slicer- a simple black and gold palm sized disk, allows use of Mirror Image.
  • Kazusu Atom- A strange item that resembles a gold top, on a black sword handle, with bronze hand guards. Allows use of a disintegrate effect (as the spell) in a 30' line.
  • Denshi Bunny- A blue crystal rabbit sculpture. User takes on a form of electricity, their items and the Wu meld with their form, though they can leave specific items unmelded, and magic items still function. User can move in any direction (including straight up) at a speed of 180 ft., and can move freely through conductive material regardless of size, but non-conductive material is an impenetrable wall. User may make a melee or ranged touch attack that deals 1d6/ChLv electric damage
  • Kaijin Charm- A piece of full arm armour for one arm (either one), with black metal pauldron and rerebrace, gold couter and gauntlet, and spiked red vambrace. The user may Create Water at will, as a swift action. Grants Expert Access to the Water Sphere. When used with the Shimo Staff, the user can hurl a storm of ice spikes, dealing 1d6/ChLv damage as a 30' radius area of effect attack (ref dc 10+1/2 ChLv+Wis Mod) as a full round action.
-Shimo Staff- The Elemental Weapon of Water Element warriors. When inactive, it is a small cylinder of ice, but does not melt, and is not uncomfortable to the touch. It is vaguely intelligent and empathic, and can hear what happens in it's surroundings, but this usually leads to little more than it's physically displaying a mood through "pose" (you can tell when it's sad, it actually droops a bit, etc.). It can replicate any weapon it's weilder desires, at will.
  • Cat's Eye Draco- A red sleeve with gold coloured lattice detail, and a large cat's eye stone at the shoulder, and gold metal hand loop. The user may call up large flames and fires, up to 5' radius per ChLv. If used offensively, this fire deals 1d8/ChLv fire damage. Grants Expert Access to the Flame Sphere. When used with the Arrow Sparrow, the two function as a semi-sentient Flaming Sphere-like effect that issues from the square directly in front of you, it deals 1d6/ChLv damage (half fire, half divine, as with Flame Strike), and can move with a Fly speed of 90' (good). Activating this effect is a full round action, but it lasts until deactivated and takes no more concentration to control than a Flaming Sphere or summoned creature.
-The Arrow Sparrow- The Elemental Weapon of Fire Element warriors. It is a small leather pouch with the image of a bird on the front, worn over one shoulder. Inside is a limitless amount of small bird shaped darts which are treated as magic flaming darts, and will explode on impact for another 1d12 damage.
  • Crest of the Condor- The user may summon large gusts of wind, as Control Wind, but the effects form a 60' cone. Grants Expert Access to the Air Sphere. When used with the Blade of the Nebula, the user can create a 60' cone of hurricane force winds as a full round action that deal 1d8/ChLv damage (half wind, half force).
-Blade of the Nebula- The Elemental Weapon of Air Element warriors. Shaped much like the Sword of the Storm, this is a blue-glass like falchion, and, also like the sword of the storm, does not function as an actual sword. When activated, the sword becomes a nunchaku, from the end of which issues a small tornado, which deals 1d6/ChLv slashing damage.
  • Longhorn Taurus- A fully articulated gold arm piece, with a bull's face design covering most of the upper arm. The user may create earth, as the spell Major Creation, limited to stone and earth, and use the spell Telekinesis, limited to earth and stone. Grants Access to the Earth sphere. When used with the Meteor-rang, the projectiles will spin on their axis, leaving a green vapour trail, and rip large holes in their targets. Their critical range becomes 17-20, and their multiplier becomes X4, finally, they are treated as weapons of sharpness.
-Meteor-rang- The Elemental Weapon of Earth Element warriors. This is a large boomerang of gold and blue enamel (1d8 slashing damage, 60' range, x2 crit). When thrown, the meteor-rang splits into a number of projectiles equal to the user's Con mod+1, each of which may target a separate target, if desired. The meteor-rang ignores hardness and DR.
  • Cannon Blaster- When activated, this large cannon literally fires the user like a cannon ball, and flies behind them to their hands when they land. I have no clue how to stat this at the moment.
  • Mikado Arms- A large plaque of two gold arms clasping each other, when used the Mikado Arms grant the user gains a +40 bonus to strength and he is treated as being a Huge creature in all beneficial ways. No other strength increases are applied, this bonus over-writes any other active effect.
------------------------------------
So that's more or less it for the Wu. I may stat up the Ying and Yang yo yos if I can figure out what their mechanical effect should be, but other than that, the rest are pretty dumb, or would exactly duplicate something else on the list I see no real reason to duplicate. Oh, and this is just stuff from the show. There was a card game, and a video game I think, and I'm sure both had plenty more Wu, as, fluff wise, there are supposed to be thousands, if not more.

so let me know if anything is particularly fucked up, or too bland, or what, but those are all pretty accurate to the show.

Well, I solidly remember seeing the third arm sash used to grab things (like in that pyramid battle. Omi saves old Omi, doesn't he?). So it should function as an extra arm with +5ft. reach.

And then you can do that "earth warrior" nonsense to your heart's content. I wasn't a fan of the show after they started doing that crap.

...it does function as a third arm. So you're saying it should have a 10' reach? Yeah I can see that.

As for the elemental warrior shit, eh, they did it at the very start, they just emphasized it more as time went one, and I seriously never even saw those episodes.

Talismans
The talismans are small stone octogons, each with the picture of an animal carved into it and painted. Talismans require a move action to activate, and usually have a range of "Creature/Object touched" but must stay in contact with the target to remain active.
  • Rat Talisman "Motion to the Motionless". The rat talisman, when held against an inanimate object and activated animates the object, and, if the object depicts a person (such as a statue, or doll), causes the object to literally be that person. The object will remain the same size it was before animation, but will in all other ways be the person it depicted. A statue of a spellcaster will have that person's full levels and spells, an idol of a god will, for all intents and purposes, be that god.
  • Ox Talisman Strength. When activated the Ox talisman grants super-human strength, and though it depicts an ox, the strength given that of a dragon. The user's strength while the talisman is active becomes 47, and then other strength boosts will apply.
  • Tiger "Yin/Yang opposites/balance". This talisman depicts a double-headed tiger, much like the face cards of a deck of playing cards. When activated, it will split down the middle, and likewise split the user or target into his "Yin" and "Yang" halves. A perfect duplicate of the character is created, but the alignment of each half is changed. The original becomes a paragon of his normal alignment, without an ounce of tendencies towards it's opposite (a LG paladin will be unswerving in his pursuit of law and good, a CE rogue will run around kicking puppies or something). The duplicate, however, is the exact opposite of the original. The LG paladin who uses or is targeted by this talisman has his dark chi separated and given the form of a CE blackguard, for example. The character and his duplicate must rejoin the halves of the talisman together to deactivate it and be recombined.
The Tiger Talisman's true power, however, is to hold the other 11 in balance, and allows the possessor to carry and use all 12 talismans at once by not counting any except Sheep, Horse and Dog against their item limit.
  • Rabbit Speed. The user of this talisman is granted the legendary speed of the rabbit. Their base speed is multiplied seven fold. This talisman can also be used on others, or on vehicles. Though the latter case is not exactly recommended.
  • Dragon "The Power of Combustion." When activated, this talisman fuses with the user, usually either to their chest, or the palm of their hand. It allows use of a 50' cone of fire that deals 1d6/ChLv fire damage.
  • Snake Invisibility. When activated, the user becomes invisible and attacking does not cause them to become visible again. Functions exactly like Improved Invisibility.
  • Horse Healing. The Horse talisman is a panecea. It expels sickness, instantly renews and repairs, and relieves pain. It's use can Cure Disease and Poison, Heal, cause the regrowth of lost limbs, and relieve Fatigue or Exhaustion. The user is in fact immune to fatigue, exhaustion, disease, poison, and gains fast healing 5, and can replace limbs lost by holding them to the stump, destroyed limbs are regrown over the course of 1d4 days.
  • Sheep "The Power of Astral Projection." When activated, the user's spirit is immediately shunted out of their body to wander the Ethereal Plane (despite the power being called "astral projection, yes.). While in their spirit form, they cannot interact with the material plane, save for entering the dreams of others, as the spell Dream Walk(HoH).
  • Monkey "The Power to Shapeshift." When activated, and the name of a type of animal is called, the target turns into the stated type of animal. Only animal forms are available, and if something else is called out, the magic will turn the target into the closest approximate animal. "Turn this log into a death ray" results in a very scared and perturbed manta ray flopping about where the log was, for example.
  • Rooster Levitation. The user gains the benefits of the spell Telekinesis.
  • Dog Immortality. The target is rejuvenated and made to feel young. If the user is of an age that they have taken aging penalties, those penalties are removed for the length of time they are in contact with or wearing the talisman. Also, the user is immortal and invulnerable. All damage, except for that taken from evil magic or negative energy, they take is taken as subdual damage.
  • Pig "The Power of Heat Beam Eyes." The user can fire beams of heat from his eyes, as the spell Scorching Ray (but not a touch attack). (no, I have no clue why pigs have laser eyes, I didn't make it up.)
Miscellaneous Magic Items
Seeker Stone A small stone pillar topped by four dragon heads arrayed in a cross. This item aids in finding the Talismans, not only acting as a Locate Object spell, but for whatever Talisman(s) is in range. Essentially it's an always active Locate Object effect set specifically to "Talisman". When it senses a Talisman nearby, one or more of the heads will glow with red light emanating from the eyes and mouth, in the nearest approximation of the direction of the Talisman (basically N,E,S,W and two heads glow for in between).
Pan'ku Box A small puzzle box, shaped like two tall trapezoidal prisms fit base to base (ie, it's wide in the middle and tapers on either end). Each half is composed of eight pieces fitted together such that it can rotate on any seam.
It's true purpose is as a key for the sealing of each of the Demon Sorcerer's. Accordingly, and unusual for a puzzle box, there are actually eight different solutions, each one keyed to a different portal. When a puzzle is solved, the box will open, with one corner of one half of the box sliding up to reveal an orb of green energy, and the location of a corresponding Demon Sorcerer will be revealed, providing a very basic geographical map to and cryptic riddle describing the location of it's portal. While it will not give accurate to recent events and history directions or descriptions (in fact, they will usually be extremely cryptic) they will, mysteriously, be perfectly valid regardless, and in fact the cryptic descriptions can apply to comparatively recently built structures by happenstance. The map will be projected onto a nearby surface, for three minutes, then the box will close again. The trigram (three horizontal, parallel lines form in a trapezoidal shape. Each line may be solid (|) or broken (: ), and each Demon Sorcerer's seal is unique to it) of the Demon Sorcerer rises out of the face of the box, and it cannot be reopened until it has opened the revealed portal.
The box doesn't give the precise location of the Portal Seal, but once brought to the proper location, it will fire a beam of energy, revealing an engraved symbol of the Demon Sorcerer upon the closest surface to the point in space where the seal was created. The box must then be brought to the symbol, where it will attach itself, the raised Trigram fitting into the Seal like a key, and projecting a large portal from it's opposite end.
Finally, each demon portal is sealed by a symbolic item of a different immortal. The seals, and respective demon, their element. and sealing symbol are as follows:
(trigrams are presented on their side due to media limitations)
|:| Shendu, Draconic Demon of Fire, Sealed by the Sword of Lu Dongbin
|:: Po Kon, Demon Sorceress of Mountains, Sealed by Drum of the Elder Zhang Guo
::| Tchang Zu, Demon Sorcerer of Thunder, Sealed by Castanets of Royal Uncle Cao
||| Hsi Wu, Demon Sorcerer of the Sky, Sealed by the Flute of Philosopher Han Xiang
:|: Tso Lan, Demon Sorcerer of the Moon, Sealed by the Lotus Blossom of Immortal Woman He
::: Dai Gui, Demon Sorcerer of the Earth, Sealed by the Flower of Lan Caihe
:|| Bai Tza, Demon Sorcerer of Water, Sealed by the Gourd of Iron-Crutch Li
||: Xiao Fung, Demon Sorcerer of the Wind, Sealed by the Fan of Zhongli Quan
Armour of the Immortals Eight sets of armour, one for each Immortal. It is believed only one suit remains, the Armour of Iron Crutch Li, but others may be found. The abilities of each accord to their nature and the nature of the demon they sealed.
The Armour of Iron-Crutch Li[/b] A suit of blue and gold enameled armour, similar in appearance to samurai's armour. When activated, it adheres to the body like a second skin and functions as magic Lobster Mail and grants an enhancement bonus to Con.
The Armour of Lu Dongbin[/b] A Red and white tunic of course material, embroidered with symbols of good magic. It functions as magic dragonscale shirt, keyed to fire, which grants an enhancement bonus to Cha.
The Armour of Elder Zhang Guo This suit is crafted of metal and the formless essence of the demi-space to which the demon-sorcerers were banished. Elder Zhang Guo forged it of conjured flame and focused will to fit him perfectly. It functions as magic Sun Plate which allows the wearer to take the form of a white bat, as a polymorph effect.
The Armour of Royal Uncle Cao This armour is, at first glance, simply a large tablet of jade. When activated it fuses to the wearer, creating flowing robes that appear to be made of soft, supple jade. It functions as magic Stone Plate, but replacing the word Dwarves with Performers, and grants an enhancement bonus to all Performance checks, finally, when taking a full defense action, you may use your ranks in Perform as a bonus to your AC.
The Armour of Philosopher Han Xiang This armour is the least physically protective of the eight suits, but has potent abilities its own. It is a set of elaborate, and very fine robes. They function as magic Magic Clothing, grant an enhancement bonus equal to 1/3ChLv to the wearer's Spell and Spell Like ability DCs and increase any flight speed he may have (such as by the spell Fly) by 50%. Finally the wearer may conjure a flute at will.
Armour of Immortal Woman He The armour of the Immortal Woman He are austere white robes. When worn, the wearer's hair lengthens to be half again as long as they are tall, and becomes purest white with a thin streak of red running down the middle. These robes function as a magic Still Suit and make it unnecessary for the wearer to eat. Should the wearer abstain from sex in emulation of the virginal He, they also gain an enhancement bonus equal to 1/2 character level to will saves made to resist charms and phantasms.
The Armour of Lan Cai He Lan Cai He was a fairly mysterious figure, whose general age and gender are unknown. Accordingly, his armour is a white sash, and when worn, becomes a ragged blue gown on male wearers, and simple peasant tunic and trews on female wearers. It functions as magic Silk Steel armour, and grants it's wearer an enhancement bonus to Bluff checks, and the ability to use Plant Growth at will.
The Armour of Zhongli Quon This armour is actually a simple robe and long hip wrap, leaving the wearer's stomach and chest bare. It functions as magic Scale Mail, and the wearer is considered two size categories larger for purposes of bullrush, grapple, and how they are affected by strong winds.

When I saw this thread, I immediately thought "Jackie Chan Adventures!" Those are some of the best things ever.
Edit: How big is the cone of fire for the Dragon talisman?

oh, shit. Knew I forgot something. Lets say 50'. Yeah, it's better than any fire Wu as far as a fire attack goes, big whoop, you'd probably never see both in the same game.

These are terribly balanced. And terribly good approximations to what they do in the shows for the most part. I love it. I may mine these for loot drops in my tabletop game.

Oh, god, yeah. There is no balance in any of them, just an attempt to keep most of them vaguely sane, and giving some of the repetitive Wu a point to exist side by side.

Also, the effects and the scheduling of when they come into the show is absolutely insane from a D&D stand point. The Wu are all pretty much in order of appearance in the show, and the kids got shit like fucking +absurdium Str as 4th level characters, then when they're probably closer to 10th or eleventh level, they get bullshit mirror image and airwalk effects. A D&D game that gave them out at level appropriate rates would be all over the place.

The talismans are...vaugely better? But yeah, still have absurd effects. The rabbit Talisman was going to give +200' spd, but then I realized that +200' is borderline pointless on some vehicles, and completely "who gives a fuck" when used on a spaceship (which they totally do in the show).

Wouldn't the tiger talisman make more sense if it split a character into two where each new alignment was one step away from the character in opposite directions?

That way a awful good character would be split into lawful neutral and neutral good, while a true neutral character would be split into lawful neutral and chaotic neutral or neutral evil and neutral good. The way you currently have it set up, a 'balanced' character (true neutral) just gets an identical copy of herself.

yeah, the Tiger talisman, like the Ring of Nine Dragons, is troublesome. A simple duplication item, like the Shadow Slicer, is easy. An item that creates near duplicates of the character that differ in personality, that's a bit different, but easily hand waved. An item that creates diametrically opposed pieces of a character on some kind of morality continuum, that's fucking insane in D&D with alignment. I'm going to just say "One's overly cautious and innocent, the other is impulsive and mischievious." or somethingm because it's supposed to split the user into "Light" and "Dark" versions of himself.

The Millennium Items
Created by an ancient wizard-priest of dubious morals and an obsession with the word "Millennium" through the sacrifice of 99 souls to dark and evil gods (held within pieces of cardboard), these items hold within them the power of the Shadow Games, a way to turn normal contests into life or death situations which rend souls and ruin lives. Naturally makers, and grown up players, of poorly designed and balanced children's card games get their hands on them.
Oh and just so I don't get tired of the repetition, they're all made of gold.
  • The Pendant An absurdly large pendant in the shape of an inverted pyramid, with an eye on one face, and strung on a heavy steel chain. The pendant is actually an incredibly complex puzzle, requiring a DC 25 intelligence check to assemble. If this check is failed, the person trying to assemble it must then make a DC 20 Will save or be lost in a Permanent duration Maze spell which technically takes place in a demi-plane contained within the pendant.
The magic of the Puzzle is the spirit within it which is roughly a Demi-god with a salient divine ability to win any contest that can be put in the context of a game, and to punish people with illusions.
Once the puzzle has been assembled, the wearer may access and speak to the spirit inside, gaining access to it's knowledge and may allow it to take over their body for short periods of time.
(the pharoah will be statted later)
  • The Eye A perfectly round orb with a stylized eye design attached to it, the Millennium Eye takes the place of one of the character's natural eyes. This doesn't impair their vision in anyway, and in fact can be hidden without doing so either.
The (chosen) wearer of the eye is allowed one wish upon replacing his own eye with the Millenium Eye, but at a cost of great personal tragedy. After that wish is made, the wearer can still make use of the Eye's other powers: The ability to read others' minds, and see through their eyes. Obviously the perfect use for this power is to cheat at a children's game  Finally, the eye can seal the soul of a defeated opponent, as the spell Trap the Soul, except the souls are all stored in the eye (it is considered to have an infinite value for this purpose, regardless of how much you might buy it for), and the souls are held until the wearer is defeated.
  • The Ring A large ring shaped amulet which contains a one eyed triangle in it's inner space, and five prongs hanging loosely from it, evenly spaced along the bottom half of the ring. Like the Pendant, it contains the soul of an ancient spellcaster. However, where the morals and ethics of the soul contained within the Pendant are debatable, the soul held by the Ring is evil to the core, and black as night. However, it remembers nothing of it's former life, but can possess the Ring's bearer at will.
Like all the items, the bearer may initiate a Shadow Game, as well as access several other powers of the Ring. The ring can lead it's bearer to other Millennium Items (or any item, honestly, I don't care.) as a Locate Object spell. The prongs swivel to indicate the direction of the item like a compass, and lead does not foil it. The Ring can seal souls away, one per prong, and they may be devoured or released at will to make room for more, otherwise this functions like Trap the Soul. The Ring can summon creatures from pictures as the Summon Monster spells (arcane focus: a picture of the creature). Finally, the Ring has a bond to it's wearer and will return to him in 2d12 hours should it be lost, stolen, destroyed, or otherwise taken from him.
Like other items, there is some issue of being "powerful" enough to use the item, or being it's chosen bearer. A person who attempts to wear the ring must make a DC 30 will save to prove their strength. Those who fail are killed. The ring plunges it's prongs into their chest (10d6 piercing damage) and fills their body with the effects of a flame strike spell. Once the would be wearer has died, the soul bound to the Ring devours the false wearer's soul, and they cannot be raised, resurrected, reincarnated or otherwise brought back to life short of through use of Wish, Miracle, or divine intervention/deus ex machina.
  • The Scale A large scale, topped with a Sun and Cow Horns symbol of fertility and health, and bearing the ubiquitous Millennium Item eye symbol at the intersection of the cross arm and stand. It can be used during an interrogation to weigh the subject's heart against the Feather of Truth, causing images of each to appear in it's dishes. Should the subject lie or admit to guilt or misdeeds, the side with his heart will lower, with greater misdeeds "weighing" more compared to the feather. However, good deeds weigh less than the Feather, and cause the heart side of the scale to rise. Consult the chart for corrupt acts in FC2(p30), with the points functioning as a weight, and consider the Feather to have an opposite weight of the total misdeeds. Good deeds are considered to oppose antithetical corrupt acts (healing vs. torture, charity vs. theft, healing an enemy opposes causing grievous injury, etc. Birth, however, does not oppose murder.) Each round of questioning forces a Will save, DC 20, vrs admitting misdeeds. If the subject makes their will save, or has no more misdeeds to confess, they may instead admit a good deed. Once a total weight of 10 is reached, the heart side of the scale reaches bottom, the subject's soul is sucked into the Shadow Realms/Devoured by a demon (take your pick), killing them and denying resurrection. A DC 25 Fortitude save counters this effect.
Finally, when held close to a person's heart, it allows it's bearer to discern the general nature of the person's alignment much as a Detect spell, except it is not specific.
  • The Key A large ankh symbol with a key on the bottom. The primary purpose of the Key is to allow it's user access to a target's soul, and "the Room of the Soul," allowing them to see the soul's nature, and even "redecorate," thereby changing the target's personality. This functions as Mind Rape, but should the victim touch the key, it will be undone, and the victim's personality will return to normal.
The Key will also make it's user, and additional targets of their choice invisible, as the spell Mass Invisibility (except the targets can see one another), allows the manipulation of Millennium Items and their energies to go undetected, including causing the rightful owner to not immediately know their item's been stolen if the thief bears the Key, and to cause individual targets to see illusions, as Major image, but mind effecting, and able to target one creature per caster level. Finally, the Key allows One to telepathically communicate with others within medium range.
  • The Rod A scepter topped by a large eye, marked with the Millennium Item eye and two short blade like wings. The shaft of the rod hides a short, thin blade that functions as a Magic Short Sword of Sharpness, and is also used to ritually scare chosen children in a Cult that formed around the Rod and a Goddess of fertility from the culture from which the Millennium Items hail. The Rod also functions as a Rod of Rulership (500 minutes duration per ChLv, DC 25 will save to resist) and a Rod of Lordly Might (minus weapon and ladder/climbing pole functions). The Rod also has the powers of allowing it's user to initiate a Shadow Game, destroy souls of defeated/slain opponents, and telepathically communicate with any creature dominated by the Rod. Finally, it can seal souls in prepared stone tablets as Trap the Soul.
  • The Necklace A torque decorated with the Millennium Item eye. This item gives it's bearer images of the past and future, but only events that are literally destined to happen which cannot be changed save through use of a Millenium Item.
The Shadow Realm is effectively a demesne of the Plane of Negative Energy. Shadow Games are special competitions where terms are named, and the souls of the contestants are put at stake, and losing means death, destruction of the soul, or similar fates. The bearer of a Millennium Item may also impose a Penalty Game on the loser, in which they are put under a Geas, or suffer an poetically just condition related to their sin, vice, personal failing, etc. Greedy people will see the object of their desire everywhere, those who depict false hoods will be denied true sight, etc. Finally, if two bearers of Millennium Items compete in a Shadow Game, usually their items are at stake just as much as their souls and bodies. Shadow Games always take place in demiplane created by the Initiator's Item, and this plane is either a copy of the mundane location in which the challenge was issued with Negative Energy Plane bleed, or a mimic of a Minor-Negative dominant location in the Shadow Realm.

They're all cartoons which were on the WB within the last ten years. Though, to be honest, I actually don't even know if there are Saturday Morning Cartoons anymore.... I don't watch TV, and I don't get up early enough on Saturdays to check.

The Wu are from Xiaolin Showdown
The Talismans are from Jackie Chan Adventures
The Millennium Items are from Yu Gi Oh

I'm still looking for stuff to stat up, and I'll edit this as I do in case others aren't recognized and people want to check something out.

All the Millenium Items are from the 4Kids Anime Yu-Gi-Oh. The first item is called the Millenium Puzzle, and is what the protagonist Yugi wears all the time.

4kids carried anime.

Added a couple of miscellaneous items from Jackie Chan Adventures to that post. Will eventually add the demon masks too, probably.

Sometime, I'm going to come up with stats for the paper bombs in Naruto.

Or possibly the Exorcism Slips from Okami.

Those things rock.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

Possibly. Fireball's a little weak, though. Maybe fire damage/knock prone effect in a smaller area.

True, though honestly, you could probably use Explosive Runes, and just change the trigger mechanism.

Sapphire Dragon in the Wu has been stated.

Cloudski
The cloudski is a simple curve of metal large enough to stand on, made into an airfoil. When activated, it levitates a foot off the ground, and will hold a rider aloft. A tether can then be attached to another object or creature, and, with a successful balance check (dc 20 by default, though erratic movement or an attempt to intentionally throw the skier off will raise this), the rider will move at the speed of what ever it is skiing behind.

Stated up the Armour of the Immortals from JCA, making a full set of eight instead of the single one they show.

That show alone has a lot of material, and I plan on stating the demon masks (which I haven't done yet because they'll be accompanied by creature stats which are a pain in the ass), and the Demon Index, including tattoo magic so people can pull a Jade, Queen of the Shadowkhan thing.
