In regards to DDO's frontloaded approach, this makes complete sense when you look at when Atari's license ends with the DnD brand. Since WotC is not happy with Atari, and Atari is glad to sit on their hands to hold onto the license until that time expires, Companies currently running under this lice...

JaronK is totally made of fail. Numbers and d20 rolls do not give your players the ability to roleplay through a situation. For crying out loud, the rogue can do a disquise check for the fighter which is a hell of a lot easier than trying to get him to do his own. But if the rogue couldn't/wouldn't ...

8 is a good level if your game only goes to 10 like the older editions of DnD and 3e was built upon, though it goes to 20. Really, level appropriatness falls upon the designers of the game and what they hope to accomplish at each level. In 3e and previous editions, levels 1-5 were for commoners and ...

I'm both for and against rolling HP. On the one hand, I think it's fun to roll HP. On the other hand, having the fighter get a 1 sucks hardcore. My solution? d4 HD becomes a d6. d6 HD and d8 HD becomes 1d6+2. d10 HD becomes 1d6+4. d12 HD becomes 1d6+6. Thoughts? This isn't a bad idea though it lump...

Honestly, this can go either way. Stats can be important or worthless, it just depends on what you wish to achieve with them. In 4e, if you took out the attack stats, you would be left with the same system as TriStat d6. I think the best option for stats would be the one where each stat has somethin...

Just a little focus on their design of 4e's Death mechanics. If it doesn't make you laugh, I don't know what will.

Hmm...not sure how it's broken compared to Leadership. You're trading your cohort's extra actions in combat for increased durability (those 2 missing levels can hurt). I suppose the right class combo could lead to a nastily-synergized PC... I like the idea of spending a feat and gaining the abiliti...

I have to admit, it's easy for a world to be outleveled by the players if the DM is still trying to through the same type of challenges he used from lvl 1. So I don't think it's a problem created by the players or the setting but more based on the DM. A solution to this would be to have the setting ...

Well in this idea, this would work with the RAW but do away with the annoying penalties and still Keep XP as a measure of character developement. Also, I'm not a fan of PrCs and kind of looking for a way to limit there use. With what I proposed above, a fighter/wizard wouldn't need to take the Eldri...

Multiclassing
I've been spending sometime thinking about the good ole' days of 2nd edition DnD and in particular, the way the game compared to 3rd edition DnD. Both games have there advantages but 3rd is clearly superior to 2nd. The only thing I did notice wrong though with 3rd is that multiclassing is completely...

That list of Sources is overwhelming! I would have to agree that a reduction is in order. As for some help reducing it, the cleric could just get his power from a Divine/Planar/Light/Dark or something along those lines but he gets a sphere/domain that shows what god he is attached to. And if you add...

The new barbarian playtest is finally out. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/drfe/20081006 And boy has wizards really turned away from the mechanics that they have imployed in the PHB. I don't know if that's a good thing or not but I can say that it's just a preview of things to come, WotC ta...

B. Someone had a spent a single feat to get my whole character. This is the factor that needs to be limited. Feats are, in D20, the tools players use to make there characters, not classes and race as it once was. If we shift the importance of feats to class and race, then you will not need to worry...

I found what you were looking for. It's on Page 74 of the FAQ. Many animated objects have hardness scores. What affect, if any, will an animated object’s hardness have on spells used against the animated object? For example, an animated wooden table would have hardness 5, right? How would that hardn...
