It seems like a lot of people missed the OP body and conflated it with the title. The suggestion is not to give SR to Fighters to make them matter more - the suggestion is to give SR to Wizards . The intention is that if Wizards can't hurt other Wizards through 'magic', stabbing wizards becomes the...

To address the general question your topic title poses , you have to make sure the boss does not go down in one hit. Deanrule brought up the issue of single opponent boss fights. Once the single opponent goes down, the fight is over, that's kinda boring. Perhaps we learn something from modern video...

+2 is worth tracking; I absolutely stick to that. In DnD the problem of small bonuses is really bad for things like disarm or trip. Can you make up your fucking mind please? You are quite bad at reading, aren't you? Go ahead and read my post. Strangely enough, it is meant to be read in order and in...

The +2 doesn't exist in a vacuum. It doesn't feel exciting by itself . But when you combine it with 5 other options to go Super Saiyan (as people do), then it becomes more effective and potentially a sudden imbalance. It's the total package we have to consider here. +10 is pretty much the difference...

I signed up for an account (after being directed by a friend of mine to the tire fire that is the Shadowrun thread) solely to applaud one of the more terrifying tangents I have ever seen on a forum. You people are my kind of psychotic asylum escapees. Welcome to this forum. We have some less dignif...

How about this, Frank... Keep the original doubt mechanics, but as a subsystem. 1: Low level means ignorance of abilities, high level means awareness. Perhaps the powers are stronger if the power user doesn't actually believe they exist. Or maybe the powers are weaker, and become stronger if the use...

But is a weapon which only benefit over other weapons is +2 disarm, really worth the rule text in your rpg? Absolutely. It is 1/5 of the maximum allowable bonus (+10) any character can just casually pick up. There aren't many +2 bonuses you can pick up before your character has fundamentally change...

Evil industrializes better than Good. I would agree with most of your points, though I'd point out that evil countries are more likely to full on assassinate leaders they don't like. You're right that evil countries understand might makes right, and won't want to be the nail sticking up when the ha...

Maybe this is a new argument in this thread: Magic item wishlists are good because they allow for arbitration in who gets what magic items. Arbitration is required in DnD because people cannot be expected to have the ability or desire to balance among themselves or against the difficulty/power level...

Also, considering the topic, I think it's a good idea. Maybe a great idea. Getting nerds to work together in a cooperative story game really needs to get baked in the cake. The point being that we won't do it on our own because of the lack of social skills. The specific implementations, eh, I don't ...
